The first clear sign that you’ve just arrived at Coachella apart from the vast miles of desert and growing crowds is the giant Ferris wheel that stands proudly in the distance. Now any music lover, art enthusiast or fashionista has heard of Coachella. As one of the largest, and most popular music festival in the U.S, Coachella is the desert mecca where people lucky enough to snag a ticket are treated to incredible live performances from emerging artists to popular and established musical artists. And if you’re lucky you might spot a few celebrities in the crowd, or at the very least see some of the best boho chic fashion out there. Coachella can certainly be overwhelming at first, especially for us first time goers, but the buzz of excitement and endless possibilities is contagious. Come along with me as I share my exciting experience at one of the most famous music festivals this past weekend.
After winning two covet passes to Coachella from BeautyCon as part of their #BeautyConBFF, My best friend Emily and I were more than prepared to explore every corner of the grounds of the Empire Polo Club. The weekend 1 venue provided a stratospheric impression for all our senses. The pulsating music from the 5 stages, the wafting delicious aroma of food from around the world, the billowing larger-than-life art installations, and the styling styles of fashionistas — all were thrilling.
Even the Sephora tent was something to joyfully experience with their selfie camera booth as one of the main attractions. Emily and I made a quick beeline for it. Let’s please take a moment to admire her shiny tresses and perfect wings. Even after having walked for hours in this dusty desert oasis, she looked flawless! The other attraction was the Sephora vending machine filled with mystery treats. For hash tagging Sephora on Instagram we received a sweet surprise. Stations included festival braiding and flash temporary tattoos. If we could have stayed here forever we would have.
Our next stop was the H&M tent. When we entered, we were thrilled by what we saw our eyes feasted at an amazingly engineered space, both visual and tactile. I may have even squealed! Loved how welcoming the misting machines felt as it hit us full on. However, when I saw the Aura Reading selfie camera, I immediately jumped in line. I knew I didn’t want to miss the chance to find out my aura. According to my aura reading I am: Peaceful, Loving, and Healer. I was extremely pleased. Emily’s aura reading said: Creator, Expressive, and Truthful. I absolutely loved her aura photo. She is blessed with such delightful gifts. Needless to say, we had an amazing time with aura reading machine.
Throughout the day the crowd continued to grow exponentially as there were people everywhere. And let’s not forget the incredible music continuously we were treated to from every corner. I literally could feel the powerful momentum of the sounds as they moved through me; the vibes purposeful, veiled by dust and inspiration. Yet despite the clatter of people and sounds, the desert was a soothing balm–a place of healing and meditation for me.
The overall aesthetic presentation left me in awe. Each art installation was worthy of feeling captivated. Each installation was something to completely marvel.
As I watched how the Butterfly–Coachella’s centerpiece–was hoisted by volunteers and carried into the sea of people, as if fluttering in preparation for a graceful flight, I discovered a new found appreciation for the creative process. The magnitude of creativity is infinite.
One of my favorite’s was the Big Horn Palace, after all this is the Year of the Ram. Magnificent is the word that comes to mind. I felt moved and was lying on the ground, lens pointed upward as if trying to capture all the life in it.
Emily and I had such a fantastic time exploring Coachella for the first time. Each moment was inspiring, captivating and motivating. Coachella may represent different things for everyone, but for me it was an opportunity for friendship, growth, exploration, and ultimately, an appreciation of music and art. I’d like to extend a special thank you to BeautyCon for this wonderful opportunity. Coachella is by far one of the most memorable experiences Emily and I will cherish always.
