While we enjoyed the hot weather in California this summer, our hair didn’t.  Dry, damaged hair is never fun, and can be a headache for anyone trying to repair and renew their hair. But finding the right products is a harder task. Not only do we have to find products that work with our hair type and needs, but also make sure the products we’re using in our hair have good ingredients and of the best quality too. With so many products in the market, it is often easy to get swamped by all the selections. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to try out HASK Keratin Smoothing Hair Care Collection.  Keep reading to check out our review and demo of each of the HASK keratin products.

What We Thought

Our hair initially was severely damaged, dry and dull from hot California weather and heating tools. It felt coarse and unhealthy to the touch.

We were excited to try the HASK Keratin Smoothing Hair Care Collection because it specifically targets dry, damaged hair. Now a keratin and Brazilian blowout treatment are very costly, so we wanted to try out hair products that could give us some of the benefits of these two treatments without putting a dent in our wallets.

The first thing we used was the Smoothing Shampoo. It was difficult to build up a lather in the hair as we are used to our shampoos lathering quickly. However, we realized that the more wet our hair was, the easier it was to get a lather going. So we do recommend running your hair in the shower, allowing it to soak thoroughly before you apply the shampoo. Depending on the length of your hair and how thick it is will determine how much shampoo you need. We personally had to squeeze two generous amount on our palms per wash to cover our entire shoulder-length hair. We loved how clean and smooth our hair felt just on the first use.

We followed up with the Smoothing Conditioner. It is safe to say we absolutely loved this conditioner. It feels lightweight on the hair but still adds the benefits of a thick conditioner. We squeezed two generous amounts on our palm per the directions on the bottle, and worked the product on our ends and then our scalp. The light, sweet scent is a wonderful bonus as the smell isn’t overpowering or chemically. The best part is how incredibly soft our hair felt after just one use.

Next we tried out the Smoothing Deep Conditioner as as a hair mask to see if it could in fact reduce breakage, repair damage and reduce static. Making sure our hair was completely soaked, we applied a generous amount to our hair, focusing again on the ends and damaged areas. Unlike a lot of deep conditioners, the Hask deep conditioner felt light and easily absorbed into the hair, which we really appreciated. Once we applied it, we simply tied our hair in a bun and left it for 30 minutes and then rinsed well. We waited until our hair to dry naturally to see how our hair looked after using the mask. When it was dry, we saw our hair looking softer, more hydrated and less dull. Our only issue with the deep conditioner is the packaging. We are usually not a fan of hair products coming in packets as we don’t think they keep fresh or sanitary that way. We would love to see this mask in a bottle or tin of some sort.

The last thing we tried was the Shine Treatment. This was the least favorite of the bunch. Although it added a nice shine to the hair, it was very easy to overdo it. The vial bottle has an open mouth which makes it hard to control how much product you want. It does take a little time to figure out how much you need for your hair. The shine oil by itself isn’t hair changing, but we did see more smoothing benefits to the hair when we apply a small amount on the hair, and once we allowed it to sit on the hair, we then straightened our hair with a flat iron. This helped lock in some of the shine, leaving the hair looking healthy and glossy. We do not recommend using this product on a day to day basis as it can leave the hair looking slightly oily. It is best on those days when you need a little life in your hair.

After a while of using the HASK Keratin Hair Care products, we have noticed a significant difference in how our hair feels and looks. The hair is smoother and more hydrated than before. Even areas like the scalp, the sides and our ends are looking healthier and more .

We definitely recommend the HASK Keratin collection for those looking for an affordable, sulfate and paraben free hair care line that helps tackle on dry, damaged hair.

Our favorite in the hair care line: Smoothing Conditioner
