While Fall might be just a fews weeks away, we are not quite ready to swap our sandals and ice cold lemonades for warm wool coats and hot cocoa. In fact, one of our treats we’ve been enjoying all summer long is ice cream. A delicious and refreshing treat for this hot weather we’ve been having in California. But while we love eating this frozen dessert, we also know it’s not the healthiest, which was why we were thrilled to try some of Arctic Zero’s Fit Frozen Desserts. Known for their lactose free, low calories and low fat ice cream pints and dipped bars, Arctic Zero makes indulging the sweet tooth and keeping a healthy lifestyle possible. Here we show you inside the four new 2017 Arctic Zero frozen desserts, and an in-depth review on these healthy frozen treats.

Let’s start with the three chunky pints. Now one of the things we were immediately intrigued about the Arctic Zero pints, and their frozen desserts in general, was whether these low calorie, lactose free desserts could fill that sweet craving you usually get from most standard ice cream. Also, we wanted to know whether or not the lack of lactose would make a difference in flavor, given that “healthy” alternatives can often taste bland.
Now we love a good pint of ice cream as it’s usually the best way to sample a new ice cream flavor without being left unsatisfied or even too committed to the flavor in case it’s not up our alley. So we we’re over the moon when spotted the three pints in our pr package from Arctic Zero.
The three new flavors immediately caught our attention: Peanut Butter Swirl, Cherry Chocolate Chunk and Rocky Road Trip.
All the flavors sounded incredible, and we were more than ready to dig in. But we were advised that to try their pints at their optimum level, it needed to be thawed for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature or put in the microwave for no more than 30 seconds. This way the dessert would be at its most creamiest.
Let’s start with Peanut Butter Swirl, our favorite of the bunch.
Peanut Butter Swirl: It contains peanut butter and white chocolate chips swirled in vanilla.
This particular flavor is the one that taste most like regular ice cream from the very first spoonful, despite no lactose in it. The creamy vanilla with rich swirls of peanut butter just melt in our mouths, giving us that satisfied feeling without being weighed down by too much dairy. It’s absolutely incredible that despite the rich taste, it is lactose free and only 300 calories for the entire pint. We definitely recommend trying out this flavor first, especially if you’re a peanut butter fan like us.
The next flavor and second favorite of ours is Cherry Chocolate Chunk.
Cherry Chocolate Chunk: A unique mix of cherries and dark chocolate chunks swirled in vanilla.
We love dipping our spoons in new, fun ice cream flavors so Cherry Chocolate Chunk was definitely on our list to try. This combination may seem a little strange, but this duo completely works. It has that perfect blend of fruit and chocolate that can satisfy anyone who loves a good sorbet and chocolate treat. One of the great things about all the chunky pints is that they are in fact packed with chunks of sweet treats and real fruit. There’s no scavenging for that bit of chocolate bits you usually have to deal with other frozen ice cream desserts. You get a little bit of everything with each bite. Be warned! This particular is so refreshing that you’ll soon be wondering where it all went. It’s that addicting.
The third and final chunky pint is Rocky Road Trip.
Rocky Road Trip: A decadent mesh of chocolate with toasty almonds and marshmallows.
We’re not the biggest Rocky Road fan, but we do enjoy chocolate and almonds so we definitely opened to trying Arctic Zero’s version. And we were pleasantly surprised with the flavor. If you are a die hard chocolate lover then you’re gonna absolutely love how rich Rocky Road Trip taste. On our first taste test, we couldn’t help get that dark hot chocolate vibe. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but after the second spoonful, we got the pieces of almond and chunks of marshmallow. The sweetness from the marshmallow helps balance the richness of the chocolate, making it more enjoyable. We also love the addition of the toasty almonds.
One of the best things about the chunky pints we noticed is how refreshing they are to the palate. And because they don’t have lactose in them, they don’t leave us feeling sluggish. Yet they still feel like a well-deserved treat.
Lastly, but certainly not least is Cake Batter.
Cake Batter: A yellow cake batter flavor dipped in red velvet coating.
The first thing we noticed about Cake Batter is how light it taste. Given the name, we had prepared ourselves for an overly sweet, rich flavor. But these dipped bars as light as fruit popsicles but still gave that decadent taste of cake batter and red velvet frosting. Like all the other Arctic Zero frozen desserts, it is important to thaw the dipped bars before eating them as they really do get that creamy texture you want in ice cream. It’s actually quite incredible how light and airy this dessert taste given the flavor. The yellow cake flavoring definitely comes through, but rather than taste overly sweet (the entire bar only has 5g of sugar), it has a fruity sorbet feel that surprisingly balances out the red velvet coating on top. We still can’t believe it only has 80 calories.
After a couple of weeks sampling these four new flavors from Arctic Zero, we’re definitely impressed with how delicious and satisfying these frozen desserts taste. We half expected to compromise on taste given that they are marketed as a healthier alternative to regular ice cream. But that wasn’t the case at all. Not only were we happy with the range of flavors on offer, but actually found ourselves skipping the regular ice cream in our freezer and reaching for these instead.
We definitely recommend heading to your grocery store and picking up an Arctic Zero pint or a box of their dipped bars. You won’t be disappointed how good they are, and how easier it is to satisfy our sweet tooth and still keep a healthier lifestyle.
