With the colder months ahead, moisturizing is a must! Our skin loses a lot of its moisture during the winter months, which can lead to dry and flaky skin. And our nails are no exception. Like good skincare, proper hand and nail care are essential. To get a head start, I had the chance to try Glisten & Glow‘s new Hand+Nail Nutrition cream, as well as their Cuticle Oil pen.
Behind the Product
The recently launched Hand + Nail Nutrition cream is a creme based formula infused with essential oils, proteins and extracts to provide hand and nails the needed boost of hydration and renewal.
It’s recommended to use a quarter size of the Glisten & Glow Hand + Nail Nutrition 3 times a day to all parts of the hand and nail, paying special attention to the cuticle area, nail plate and the underside of the nail.
Product Size: 0.5 oz and 2 oz.
Available Scents: Unscented and Sangia White Peach
Price: $6.50 (0.5 oz), $14 (2 oz).
Following the cream is the Glisten & Glow Cuticle Oil Pen. The brand’s cuticle oil is now conveniently packaged in a click style pen (with a brush applicator). Infused with a custom blend of jojoba oil, acai berry extract and other essential oils, the cuticle oil helps treat dry, cracked cuticles. Like the Hand + Nail Nutrition cream, it’s recommended to use the cuticle oil pen 3 times a day for best results.
Product Size: 2 ml
Available Scents: Sangria Peach, Coconut, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Blueberry Cobbler
To the Test
This is the condition of my nails after using acetone to remove polish and pushing back my cuticles.
The formula on this nail balm is thick enough (without feeling heavy), and really glides on the skin. There is also no greasy feeling left afterwards–an issue I dread about nail and hand balms. In fact, the Hand +Nail Nutrition soaked into the skin and I was able to go about my business without leaving oily marks everywhere.
On applying this to my hands for the first time, I felt an immediate difference in my skin. The dryness around my nails went away, along with the dry patches on my nail plates. For a new product, I can already see it becoming a holy grail. And I just love the significant difference in my skin.
I’ve been using the cuticle oil pen before taking pictures of my nails because it leaves the skin hydrated and it doesn’t look greasy in pictures. Before using Glisten & Glow’s cuticle pen, I was using Essie’s apricot cuticle oil. While the Essie oil works well, I didn’t like that it contained alcohol, which dries out the skin. That’s a big reason why I prefer the Glisten & Glow formula better. It won’t dry out the nail plate or the skin around the nail.
Now typically the skin around my nails flake really badly, and I consistently have hangnails on my pointer and middle finger. After using the cuticle oil pen routinely for about a month, I have found that it has moisturized and smoothened out those trouble spots. And I couldn’t be more happy. Finally a product that delivers the results. Plus, I love how travel friendly the packaging is!
These two products together are a match made in heaven. Both hydrate and renew the hands and nails without cancelling each other out. Now I should mention that both products do come with fragrance in it. The scent I received was ‘Sangria White Peach’, which smelled absolutely amazing. The aroma is present enough that you know it’s there, but not enough for it to be overbearing. If scents are not your thing, they also have an unscented option.
See the after results of using both products.
As you can see the skin around my nails and even my cuticle beds look healthier and more supple.
Overall, I definitely recommend checking out Glisten & Glow ‘s Hand + Nail Nutrition and Cuticle Oil pen if you’re in the market for great quality nail care essentials. Your nails are going to thank you!
