[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s fans of the “nude” makeup palettes, we were excited to get our hands on the L’Oreal Color Riche La Palette Nude 2 eye shadow palette. Now after a month of putting this product to the test, we are more than ready to share our thoughts and review of this new palette from L’Oreal.

Designed to help master the art of the “nude” eye makeup look, this revamped palette features 10 eye shadows ranging from beiges and taupes to browns and purples. These highly pigmented shades also come in three finishes: shimmery satins, mattes and sheens. And conveniently packaged in a sleek case with a dual ended makeup brush and mirror.

Here we breakdown our review in different categories ranging from pigmentation, performance to packing and more.
[accordion title=’Color Pay Off/Texture’ open=’true’]The first thing we wanted to do is take a closer look at the pigmentation for the Nude 2 palette, so we took swatches of each of the the ten eyes shadows to see their color payoff. We were pleasantly surprised to find that all the eye shadows were highly pigmented without needing a primer. The silky, buttery texture on these L’Oreal eye shadows remind us a lot of the Wet n Wild quads we love from the drugstore. We were definitely impressed with the feel and look of the palette.[/accordion]
[accordion title=’How Usable?’ open=’true’]When a palette calls itself “Nude” our minds immediately hone in to how usable will the range of colors be, and how translatable will it be for everyday use. Every beauty brand has brought out their versions of this nude trend from Urban Decay to NYX and more. So with this in mind we wanted to see if the L’Oreal palette worked cohesively. We were actually impressed with the careful selection of mattes, satins and sheen in this palette, as well as the color selections as they coincide with what you would normally expect (and need) to complete a “nude” palette. Similar to the coveted Naked palettes from Urban Decay, the palette also boasts a light to dark scheme as we get those dark, warmer shades. Why is this a great feature? It means we can easily spice up our daytime eye make up and create that perfect night time eye look. While there is no black eye shadow included in the palette, we don’t miss it. The deep purple ( #10) looks almost black without feeling too harsh. What we love most about this palette is how well the colors work with each other. [/accordion]
[accordion title=’Performance’ open=’true’]Sometimes even palettes with high pigmentation can be very tricky to work with on the eyes. Fortunately we had just minor issues with the Nude 2 eyeshadow palette. Besides being buildable, these eye shadows made blending effortless. It was incredibly easy to recreate the four exclusive looks shown on the back of the palette or even create your own eye looks. One drawback about the eye shadows is their fallout. We tried several methods from switching out brushes to lightly tapping into the product, but still there was fallout on our cheeks, and more so when we used the darker shades. Tip: We suggest applying foundation after the eyes are done to avoid ruining your makeup. [/accordion]
[accordion title=’Packaging’ open=’true’]Some people may argue that the palette is on the bulkier side but we generally prefer a palette to have a bit more weight (and sturdiness), especially if we are traveling with it. The overall packaging is sleek and spot on. It also has a nice clasp when we close it so there is no chance of things getting into the eye shadows. The mirror is of course a selling point as this makes it easy to apply makeup on the go without carry extra bulk. We are usually throw out the brushes included in palettes but we were intrigued by the duo ended brush in the Nude 2 palette. While not our favorite brush, it does apply and blend the eye shadows nicely. [/accordion]
[accordion title=’Overall’ open=’true’] As we have mentioned before, we have been playing with this palette for a month now. And it has since become a favorite of ours because of how easy it is to work with, the color range and how well it performs. Now the only major issue we have with the L’Oreal Nude 2 palette is the price. It retails for $19.99. Maybe it’s because L’Oreal is still a drugstore brand, and therefore we associate it with on the mid-range level between low end and high end makeup that we were taken back a bit about the price. However, it is fair to say that the high quality of this palette and performance definitely makes it a more budget-friendly alternative to those higher end “nude” palettes in the market. [/accordion]
