On this week’s episode, Jane is caught in a nightmarish dream where everyone has an opinion on her character–and it’s not flattering. Although she wakes up, she’s visibly shaken. Unsure of what this could all mean, she tells Stacy the dream. Stacy tells her the funeral represents closure, something Jane never had a chance to have. But will this be Jane’s chance to put to rest her relationship with Owen and possibly move on?
Back at the office, Parker tells everyone that he’s being honored for helping catch Gina Blunt. Apparently Parker knew all about the big sting operation, but didn’t want to risk the case by telling the rest of them. Kim isn’t happy about this news at all. She feels betrayed by Parker, especially since she is his business partner.
Jane and Grayson have a bizarre case on their hand. Their new client, Kathy wants them to help her keep her late husband’s ashes. If she loses, Caitlin, Scott’s stepmother would get the ashes. She would also have the power to spread them as she wished. Kathy says she has a video of her fiancé telling her she has his body and soul. But Jane tells her the video does not supersede a Will. Grayson feels a kinship with Kathy as he too has lost someone dear to him.
Now for some of us who thought Owen was out of the picture, we’ll we guessed wrong. Owen shows up and tries to explain, but Jane isn’t ready to listen and walks away.
But that’s not the only surprise, we find out Kathy has been eating the ashes, which is why Caitlin told the court that Kathy shouldn’t have the ashes. Jane believes Kathy needs therapy not legal counsel. Kathy explains that Scott told her to eat them, and when she does, she can see him. Jane’s still a bit unsure, but Grayson wants to continue to help Kathy win the case.
Owen claims his disappearance was due to a heart operation. He makes up a story about suffering from a heart attack while he was visiting Eddie. And, no one knew where he was. He then apologizes to Jane. But something is Owen’s “oh so innocent” story doesn’t rub us the right way. A bit too convenient, if you ask us.
Back at court, the opposing counsel says what Kathy is doing is illegal. Grayson shows examples of how popular the use of human remains have become, including using them in products such as candles and paper weights. But the Judge doesn’t think it’s the same thing. Jane argues that grieving is extremely personal and the disposition of ashes is how the love one left behind chooses to honor the dead. While under oath, Kathy admits she sees Scott, which makes the opposing counsel argue against giving her the ashes. So they suggest Kathy get evaluated by a mental health expert and decide to award the ashes to Caitlin. Kathy faints in court and is taken to the hospital. There they find poisons in her bloodstream. Turns out the bouts of dizziness and delusions are a result of her eating Scott’s ashes.
Parker talks to Terri about Kim feeling like she’s not an equal business partner. Terri says Kim has done her time and has earned Parker’s respect. In an effort to include Kim, he tells her he’d like her to lead the corporate minutes. Kim smiles.
Owen goes to talk to a happy Jane. But she’s not giddy for long. Owen claims his heart is still too weak, therefore he is withdrawing his proposal. But no one leaves Jane twice. She let’s him know that if anyone is leaving someone, it’s her. And boots Owen out.
Thallium is found in Kathy’s body. It got in her body when she started eating Scott’s ashes. Grayson says it must have been in Scott’s body since Thallium isn’t part of the cremation process. He believes Scott was being killed. Now they need a warrant to obtain the ashes.
However, Caitlin has already dumped the ashes. So they go to visit Kathy at the hospital to get the remaining ashes to prove Scott had been poisoned. Unfortunately, Kathy has eaten the last of them. Jane comes up with a plan.
She calls Caitlin to the office to give her some so-called ashes from Scott that Kathy had held back. She tells her they found thallium in Scott’s body. And she knows Caitlin had something to do with it in order to gain a trust fund. After Caitlin admits to murdering Scott, Jane gets her to write her a check for $50 thousand dollars. But unknowing to Caitlin, the whole thing is a trap. Right as she signs the check, the police walk in and arrest her.
Grayson tells Jane she is amazing and never gives up. Just when we think Jane will fall into Grayson’s arms, no such luck! Instead, she goes to visit Owen to tell him that she wants to marry him. It seems the more we ship Grayson and Jane, the farther these two get. Guess we’ll just have to watch how Drop Dead Diva unfolds.

Fantastic article! I don’t even watch this show and I love reading about it!
