Jane rocks her diva look on this week’s Drop Dead Diva, as she prepares to join famous lawyer Lawrence Brand on a talk show hosted by Nancy Grace. The topic is on privacy and whether celebs have the right to whine about their privacy being violated. With a juicy topic like that, there’s plenty of drama in store.
It’s house hunting for Jane and Owen. But when their realtor finds them some great homes to look at, Jane is a little hesitant to proceed, especially since she hasn’t told Stacy yet.
Now here comes the diva moment we were waiting for! Albeit a shocking one as well. Jane, who is for celebrities’ right to privacy, suddenly finds herself unable to get a word in since Brand keeps cutting her off. Eventually she manages to recall an old case of Brand, which helps her score some points with him, but not so much for Nancy Grace. In her excitement to show her range of knowledge, she swings her arms and accidentally hits Nancy Grace, knocking her down.
Stacy gets a guy visitor at Pakery who begins asking her questions about her pake. She thinks the guy is interested in her. And ever the helpful, Teri chimes in and tells the guy Stacy will have lunch with him. But dating isn’t on this guy’s mind. It turns out he stole Stacy’s patent and is more than willing to profit from half of her revenue. Stacy goes to Grayson for help. She tells him a troll is trying to steal her business.
Jane walks into the office and is surprised to see the video of her hitting Nancy Grace has gone viral. She apologizes to Parker, but he’s happy for the free publicity. As she goes to her office, Teri shows her a mug of Lawrence Brand. She is surprise to find out Jane used to idolize him. While Jane is saying some negative remarks about Lawrence to Teri, he walks in repeating what she said and says he wants to hire her. Jane is about to reject the offer when Parker walks in and says Jane is in. She is now second chair for a drug company case, in which a woman named Sheila Reece suffered a miscarriage during her second trimester. Sheila was suffering from depression, so her O.B. put her on Aprox, a drug that triggers miscarriages. She had a late term miscarriage and can never get pregnant again. Now they have to fight against the drug company to prove Vanden pharmaceuticals is responsible.
Sheila is called to the stand. She tells the court how she was suffering from depression but when she took the Aprox. her depression got better. However, she lost her baby. The Drug Company tries to destroy Sheila’s testimony saying she ordered drugs online for depression two weeks before the miscarriage, she argues she didn’t take the drug.
Lawrence behavior gets out of control when he confuses the case with a cigarette case, forcing Jane to step in and fix the mistake. She notices he is acting strange and erratic, and decides to questions his ex-wife for answers. She finds out Lawrence Brand is suffering from Pixie disease frontal degeneration, which he inherited from his father and grandfather. She confronts Lawrence but he is in denial and very angry. He then tells her to question the key witness Dr. Kane. Jane, however, thinks he is just confused.
Trying to prove Stacy founded the pake is turning out to be difficult. No one has proof, not even Mr. Pierce, the guy trying to steal her company. Stacy remembers Nikki Lepree (Kim Kardasian) had taken some pictures of her creations. The presiding judge (Star Jones) tells them to get the proof. Grayson tracks Nikki down (who is impersonating Stacy) in jail. Turns out that by impersonating Stacy, she also inherited Stacy’s not-so-good track record with unpaid parking tickets. Stacy gets the pictures but when she’s called to the stand she manages to ruin everything. It’s decided to have a Pake off in the court to proof who really invented the pakes. The Judge (Star Jones) tastes Stacy’s pake and likes it. When she then tastes Mr. Pierce’s pake, it collapses–proving Stacy was the real inventor. The Judge says ‘No one likes a troll’ and Stacy wins her patent.
Roger, Owen’s friend and the real estate agent, goes to Stacy and Jane’s home. He tells Stacy about the homes he has set up for Owen and Jane, but he quickly realizes Stacy didn’t know that Jane was looking for a house. Stacy is sad that Jane will be moving out, but Roger comforts her and tells her he will have them look at a house down the block that way they’d still be close to each other.
Back at court, Lawrence and Jane question Dr.Kan. However, his testimony does not help the case, even after he says Aprox is listed as unsafe for pregnant woman. Of course, Vanden Drug Company denies the claim. Lawrence gives Jane a blue folder but it is empty. Jane is upset with Lawrence and and frustrated because there isn’t proof. Yet, Owen makes her think twice about the empty folder. In a spark of genius, Jane ask the pharmaceutical company if they perform drug trials in India, but they claim there is no such thing. Jane points out the Aprox clinical trial in India that had catastrophic results–shaking the blue folder for emphasis. This causes the opposing lawyer to exercise her Fifth Amendment right as to not incriminate herself, resulting in Jane winning the case.
Luke tells Kim he likes her and ask if he did anything wrong. Kim tells him they can’t date. He keeps insisting on going to dinner together. But Kim shocks him (and us) with the news that she is pregnant, but doesn’t want to talk about it. We weren’t expecting this!
Back on the Nancy Grace show again, Lawrence is talking about the case. He gives Jane credit and announces his retirement. Guess it’s off to the sunset for him.
At home, Jane tells Owen about the house down the block. They start imagining their future together, leaving us to imagine it with them. What will the future hold for these two lovebirds, guess we’ll have to keep watching.
