We love how the episode starts with Castle staring at Kate as she changes her top, all the while trying not to look sexy as she returns back to work. Pretending they are not sleeping together is becoming an adventurous task. Castle forgot Kate’s coffee, something he’s done for the past four years. Can’t help but love the humor in this show. On Kate’s first day back, she gets a case that involves the murder of the weather girl, Mandy Michaels. Castle happens to mention he used to watch her because she had the best… umm assets (we know what he really means), and Kate just looks at him. Esposito and Ryan are still upset with each other, but they have to follow a lead together.
Castle and Kate’s investigation leads them to the Radio station, where they question a rival named Rebecca Fog, the other weather girl. But her alibi checks out. Meanwhile, Castle is busy playing with the green screen, making Kate smile and the rest of us too. They go question the makeup ladies, who tells them Mandy had a secret guy but they give hints. Castle ends up blurting out the name Reggie Blake, then covers his mouth. Now Esposito and Ryan go question Reggie, but the big guard refuses to let them pass and punches Esposito in the face. Even funnier when they return to the office, and both Ryan and Esposito are sporting black eyes. They do manage to bring the suspect in.
On a side note, Castle give us another one of his great hysterical lines as he tells Kate “don’t tell me you dress like that for Esposito”. There’s plenty more of these Castle lines that we can’t help but enjoy.
Now Castle is asked to be on the show, and he happens to have a segment with Kristina who isn’t shy about her intentions toward him. She ends up asking him on a date, which Kate tells him to decline, but Castle accepts. Kate is not too happy. However, he insists it’s the perfect cover for them to hide their romance.
They discover Mandy went on a helicopter ride and used equipment stolen from Rebecca Fog. They question Rebecca about the equipment and what it does. Apparently, the monitor measures data. Rebecca realized it indicated high levels of Styrene, a dangerous chemical that leads to severe respiratory problems. Castle and Kate go visit a kid in the hospital who suffered from asthma like Mandy. Turns out all the other patients Mandy questioned had asthma and had a connection to Conway Field. We find out George Cazuli was the one who threatened Mandy after she confronted him about using Styrene.
As the team continues working on the case, Castle goes to his date with Kristina. She attempts to seduce him and throws herself at him, all while Kate is calling him on the cell. Kate runs to Castle’s apartment thinking something is wrong, but finds Kristina on top of him. She can’t get over the image.
Castle and Kate go back to the radio station to confront Miles who was Mandy’s partner. Desperate to give his career a kick, he wanted to be the one who broke the story. So he went to Mandy’s apartment to get the files, where they fought and eventually he killed her.
Esposito and Ryan finally make up after Esposito realized Ryan took a punch for him. Awww!
Working through relationship rules, Castle and Kate decide it would be best if Castle not actually go on dates with other women. Kate lets Castle know “she has a gun”. We’ll just have to keep watching and enjoying the romantic duo.
