It is safe to say we love beauty, fashion and lifestyle subscription services. They are a great budget-friendly way to try out new and existing products at a fraction of the retail cost. While many company choose to stick to a niche whether it’s in the makeup, skincare, food, or health realm, there are monthly subscription services that offer a little bit of everything. The POPSUGAR Must Have Box is a great example of this as POPSUGAR offers subscribers the chance to sample a wide range of products from organic veggie chips, cruelty-free nail polish to workout DVDs and more. Recently we had the chance to get our hands on the August Must Have box. Take a look at what we received in this month’s box.

We were told this month would be a special one to celebrate the second birthday anniversary of POPSUGAR Must Have’s subscription Service. So the products this month were curated for the occasion. What we love most about this month’s Must Have box was the diversity of the products, each alluding to summer and fall.
Some of our favorites include the Goodbyn Purple Meal and Dipper Set, Kendra Scott Elisa Necklace in Black Cat’s eye and the Paddywax Ocean Tide + Sea Salt Mini Jar Candle. We can see ourselves using the container set to take our lunch to the office to keep track of meal portions. Plus we love the included dipper set! When we saw the Black Cat’s Eye from Kendra Scott we fell in love. The black oval stone lends a bohemian feel to the delicate chain. This is definitely going to be our must have piece for the fall.
Candles are a must in our home decor, so we are always on the hunt for new scents to fill our rooms. We love the light, fresh scent from the Paddywax soy-wax candle. It gives off a very soft scent when burning which is perfect for the living room and bedroom without leaving a strong odor that could overwhelm any of our visitors. We also love the packaging.
When we saw the Mason Jar Cookie Company Celebrate Cookie Mix we thought, “Thank Goodness”. Why? We are terrible bakers. We love to cook, but any time we get ahold of a dessert recipe our palms start to sweat. So having a cookie mix that only requires butter and an egg to create delicious cookies is right up our alley. Now we wanted to try this immediately to see whether or not this mix was in fact foolproof so we followed the instructions to the letter and we surprise surprise…our cookies turned out great! We actually can’t wait to try getting our hands on several of the other cookie mixes to wow others with our amazing “baking” skills. No need to tell them all we did was mix and put them in the oven.
Unfortunately our Lollia At Last Perfumed Shower Gel spilled and seeped a little into the box. But we just quickly washed the sticky gel from the bottle. At first we were not crazy about the scent but when we took it in the shower we actually started to really like it. It really permeates the air with a light perfume scent, leaving us with a feeling of stepping inside a French perfume boutique. What we don’t like is how we have to be really careful to hold it at an angle to avoid the product spilling out. We suggest keeping the bottle up right (with the lid faced up right) to avoid any spills. The best part is how easily the shower gel creates a lather, and leaves the skin nice and refreshed.
While we love how Bite Beauty created the POPSUGAR shade, we were not crazy about the formula. The bright, pink lip gloss looks beautiful on the lips but it feels heavy and sticky. And while our lips did look moisturized we just couldn’t get past the heavy feeling. Granted it takes at least 5 full minutes for the product to sink into the lips before it can be a bit more wearable.
Our special treat of the month was the ThinkThin Brownie Crunch High Protein Bar. Normally we don’t really go for protein bars but we couldn’t resist the chocolate goodness. Not necessarily creamy (but this is common), the bar does have that rich chocolate taste that satisfies the chocolate craving.
Overall we really enjoyed our August Must Have box. There is no denying that POPSUGAR does an excellent job curating products that fit the theme of the month and offer subscribers a range of goodies to choose from. Although the $40 a month might seem steep, we do love how majority of the products are full-size with an exception of one or two deluxe-size samples. And never those dreaded packet samples we dread.
