Inside the POPSUGAR Must Have Box July 2016

Can you believe that summer is almost over? It seems like just yesterday we we were switching our sweaters and our double layers for long, flowy maxi dresses and neon swimsuits. And here we are a little over month left until Fall officially starts. But luckily for us, our July Popsugar Must Have box came in the mail and have been loving the a variety of fun products inside. Continue reading to discover what beauty and lifestyle products we’ve sampled in this box and our thoughts on the July Must Have Box.

The July box was inspired by a perfect mesh of the retro, fun emojis and summer playfulness. Subscribers could expect 7 products ranging from hair care, accessory to food and more. Here’s a closer look at the products inside our box.

1. Pineapple Pin [ Pintrill ]: This fun pin shaped as a pineapple is a great way to jazz up a plain old t-shirt.
2. Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter in Pearl [ European Wax Center ]: Versatile, the brow highlighter can be used for the brow bone, cheekbones or any areas you like a little highlight to go on.
3. Hair in the Sun [ SachaJuan ]: Sunscreen for the hear. The UV-filter formula helps protect the strands from any sun damage.
4. Emoji Cocktail Napkins [ House of Pom ]: These cocktail Napkins are excellent conversation starters with their fun emoji motifs sewed in.
5. Porcelain Skinny Scarf in White [ Michael Stars ]: Perfect for dressing up or dressing down a look, the Michael Star skinny scarf adds that needed flair to any outfit.
6. Classic Sea Salt Retro Potato Chips [ Joe Chips]: These delightful kettle chips are a tasty snack.
7. Inflatable Swan Drink Holder [ SunnyLife ]: A great way to keep your drinks next to you is this inflatable swan drink holder which allows you to float about four beverages in the pool so you always stay refreshed. (not pictured)

One of the reasons why we really enjoy the PopSugar Must Have box is the great variety of products you can sample in each box. The July box is no exception.

Let’s start with our favorites in the bunch.

The first item we were absolutely in love with at first sight was the Michael Star skinny scarf. It’s absolutely perfect for those days in the summer where it’s slightly cooler and you need a little protection around the neck or simply looking to accessorize a basic outfit and make it stand out more. We did exactly that by wearing the scarf with a graphic tee, and were amazed with how easy it could change the feel of our outfit. We could also see this scarf being a great piece to transition from summer to Fall.

Our next favorite product in the box was the emoji napkins from the House of Pom. We may or may not have squealed the moment we spot these fun napkins. Some of the designs etched on the napkins include a palm tree (but of course!), emoji with sunglasses, flowers and a fruity cocktail. Now before you go wondering about how these napkins function, they are actually meant to serve as coasters. But if you want to use them as a hankie then you do you! No, but seriously these emoji napkins do not only look and feel high quality, but are great conversation starters at any party.

Inflatable animal floaties have been one of the hot items this summer so we were weren’t surprised to spot the Inflatable Swan Drink Holder. Unfortunately, we haven’t had a chance to take the drink holder to the pool with us, but we can’t wait to try it out.

POPSUGAR generally includes one or two beauty products in their box. The July box included the European Wax Center’s Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter  and the Hair in the Sun from Sachajuan. Two very different products, but definitely fit the summer theme. Now the Oh My Brow! Brow highlighter comes as a jumbo dual-ended stick with one side being the highlighter and the other a sponge brush to blend.

Swatching the highlighter, we were impressed with the pigmentation. The color is very pigmented so you don’t need a lot to show on the brow bone or area you want to highlight. It is also creamy and easy to blend. However, maybe because of its easy-to-blend formula, it is easy to blend some of the color away with the sponge brush so use softer strokes when applying.

One of the products we were surprised we really enjoyed was the Hair in the Sun. This hair product is meant to be a sunscreen for your hair. Sunscreen for your hair? Yup! You may be surprised to know that our hair also needs protection from the harsh hot summers. It is so easy to apply whether dry or wet, and won’t wash out in the pool or in the ocean until you shampoo it off. The scent is also not overpowering. It has a fresh, beachy scent that is perfect for summer. Also, as we live in Southern California, we will definitely be needing this product year long.

It wouldn’t be a Must Have box if there wasn’t at least one quirky or foodie item in the box. And we weren’t wrong. The July box came with bag of Joe Chips’ Sea Salt kettle chips and a cute pineapple pin from Pintrill. We just love how cute the pineapple pin looks! We can see ourselves adding it to a summer outfit and giving it that quirky, fun vibe we love.

Now maybe it’s just coincidence, but POPSUGAR seems to know that we are foodies at heart because we can almost always expect some type of snack in our box. And boy did we devour the sea salt chips in one sitting. They’re simple, but have that crunchy bite to them that we just love in a good chip. Definitely want to try a few flavors from the brand.

But we can’t forget the bonus items in our box. Inside the box came a $20 gift card to shop at Troveup.com, a customizable jewelry site. We haven’t fully browsed the site, but excited to check out their lovely rings and necklaces. Also in the box is a voucher for a complimentary brow wax at a European Wax Center. This one we will definitely be using ASAP!

Overall, we have really loved the products we have received in our July Must Have Box. They’re incredibly well thought out. One of the reasons why we would rank the Must Have boxes high is the wide selection of products subscribers can look forward to. Whether it’s beauty, skin care, food or lifestyle, they offer a little bit of everything to satisfy every palate and preference.
