Inside the Glossybox Holiday Limited Edition Box & Review

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he holidays are in full swing with cookies baking in the oven, and Christmas music bellowing from Pandora. All we need is a white Christmas in Southern California, and we’ll be set. Alright, so chances of snow might not be looking too good, but not to fear we have the Glossybox’s special limited edition Holiday box with us so we are definitely in the merry mood. This special edition box features eight beauty products, designed to give us everything we need to create a classic holiday look this season. Here we share our impressions (and mini review) of what products we received in this month’s box.

Included in this special edition box are 7 full-size beauty products and one deluxe-size fragrance, beautifully packaged in a rich red velvet keepsake box.

• Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter in Rainforest at Dawn: A smoothy, creamy lip butter infused with maracuja, acai oils and mango butters.
• NCLA Nail Lacquer in Satin Sheets, Velvet Ropes: A creamy red nail polish with a hint of shimmer.
• Calvin Klein Reveal Eau de Parfum Spray : A fresh, warm scent with notes of orris and sensual sandalwood.
• Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Wind: This pinky nude lip gloss is enriched with vitamin E and shea butter to keep the lips hydrated.
• Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Colour Concentrates in Smote: This holographic color pigment has light-reflecting mica particles to give out a multidimensional effect.
• Cargo TexasLiner Liquid Eye Liner: This chubby felt tip liquid eye liner glides smoothly to create that cat eye.
• Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara: Infused with volcanic soil, this volumizing mascara adds drama to the lashes.
• The Lip Bar Lipstick in Crimson Wonderland: A limited-edition candy apple red lip color infused with shea butter, avocado oil and coconut oil.

We normally love all the glossyboxes we’ve received throughout the year, but this special edition box is absolutely our favorite. Not only is their a nice selection of products ranging from eyes, lips to nails and fragrance. For beauty lovers like ourselves, we love how all the products except the perfume is full size. This gives us the chance to really sample the products we receive and find out whether we love the product itself, which is one of the main reasons why many of us subscribe to a beauty subscription service.

The first item that caught our attention was the Calvin Klein Reveal perfume. It has a beautiful, geometric (oriental-inspired) feel that makes it incredibly sleek. The scent is light and fresh, but the hints of warm sandalwood makes it feels grown up. Besides the gorgeous scent we love the size for travel.

Next up is the Cargo TexasLiner Liquid Eye liner in Black. Gel liners are usually are go to way of applying liner on the eyes, but we can’t beat a good felt tip liquid liner. We liked how easily it glided on the lids, creating an easy cat eye. The felt tip is firm without feeling too harsh on the lids. Our only issue was its staying power. For those who do not have oily lids, this liner will be amazing. For us oily lid gals, we don’t see this liner staying put all day. But granted, the liner never claims to be waterproof.

Glossybox must know us well because we adore the NCLA nail polish in Satin Sheets, Velvet Ropes. Although we have heard of NCLA, we have yet to try any of their nail polishes. Safe to say we are really enjoying the nail polish in the holiday box. The formula is nice and creamy, and the best part is how opaque the color applies on the nails. The color is absolutely gorgeous with a reddish, cranberry shade with just the slightest shimmer. We can’t wait to try out more shades from this brand.

One of our favorites in the box was The Lip Bar lipstick in Crimson Wonderland. First of we love the name, and second of, we love the color. Now there is only so much dark merlot red lipstick we can rock this season, so it is nice to soften the look with a softer red hue color on the lips. When we first applied this lipstick, we weren’t too sure of waxy texture as it felt a little stiff on the lips. But as we kept applying it, we noticed it gave us more precision, especially around the corners, and we our lips did not feel dry. Our favorite part is by far the color. It is just a fabulous red lipstick that brightens up the complexion and completes our holiday look. Only downside is the scent. It doesn’t have that vanilla or fruity scent we have come to expect in most lipsticks in the market.

As much as we rave (and use) OCC’s lip tars, we have yet to try any of their colour concentrates. Fortunately Glossybox has us covered with this unique holographic color pigment. It is hard to describe the color as it looks like a standard bronze eye shadow, but depending how the light hits it, it can turn into taupe one minute or a dark rose golden the next. The light-reflecting shimmer in this shadow is absolutely stunning– ideal for that extra sparkle this season. And like the lip tars, a little bit of this goes a long way.

Another favorite of the bunch is the Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing mascara. Boy did we love using this the moment the wand worked its magic on our lashes. There were no clumps, and our lashes had that extra oomph we adore. We have never heard of volvanic minerals in mascara before trying this mascara, so we were interested on whether it does in fact increase lashes by 600 percent as the box indicated. Now we don’t know about 600 percent, but we do love the volume. In fact, the formula is nice and wet without weighing down the lashes as our lashes tend to fall straight. One coat of this mascara, and not only were our lashes volumized, but also had a nice curl. This is definitely our go-to mascara for the holidays.

Last two products in the box were the Teadora Lip butter and the Jouer lip gloss in Wind. The lip butter from Teadora was an interesting product for us. It has a delicious citrusy scent we love while the product inside is more solid than we had envisioned a lip butter being. It take a few seconds for the product to melt a little with the warmth of our finger tips, but feels incredibly on the lips. The texture almost resembles our Indie Lee Body cream we love. The product overall is very nice. Our only complain is the packaging as we’d have prefer it to be a bit less bulky. Now the Jouer lip gloss, we loved the texture and surprisingly, the color. But we did not like the scent as it has a oily taste on the lips we found it overpowering a bit. We suggest apply it with a light, fruity lip balm and applying the gloss over it.

This holiday-inspired box is by far our favorite box from Glossybox. We actually appreciate how this box featured all makeup products–albeit–the fragrance. It is a nice change of pace to the customary glossyboxes we get which are more skincare driven. For $40 dollars (with free shipping), we feel the size and quality of the products, not including the deluxe size perfume, makes this limited-edition box worth the price tag. The rich red velvet box also makes this a perfect gift for someone, or even ourselves.
