Step 1
Pour the Duncan Hines Cupcake Mix in a large bowl.
Add oil, water, eggs and vanilla extract.
Step 2
Using a whisk or handheld mixer, blend all the ingredients until the batter is nice and smooth. If using a whisk angle the bowl to the left or right to make sure none of the cupcake mix is left in the bottom of the bowl.
Step 3
Once batter is smooth, simply line the cupcake pan with the Halloween baking cups. Don’t worry if they pop up a bit since they’ll fit perfectly once we pour in the batter.
Step 4
Take a small punch ladle and scoop the batter to the very top of each baking cup. We want our cupcakes to form a nice topper for the frosting we put later on. After the batter has been poured into the baking cups, we want to lightly shake the pan to make sure the batter is distributed evenly.
Step 5
Just pop the cupcakes in the oven at 350 F and bake for 21-24 minutes. Cooking times will differ for each oven. Tip: To make sure the cupcakes are done simply take a small knife or skewer, and poke the middle. If batters sticks to the knife or skewer then let it bake for a few more minutes. However, if no batter is seen then the cupcakes are ready. Take the cupcakes out of the oven and the pan, and let them cool completely.
[large_title title=”How To: Making the Frosting”]
Step 1
Take a large bowl, and pour in 1 box of C &H Pure Cane Powdered Sugar and 1 stick of salted butter (softened).
We recommend using a handheld mix to beat the sugar and butter quicker. But a whisk can do the job nicely. We want the sugar to really incorporate with the butter. Next add vanilla extract.
Step 2
Pour in the milk a little at a time to make sure the frosting is rich and creamy. For this recipe, we went for a thicker frosting for the cupcakes. If looking for a thinner consistency, simply add a bit more milk.
Step 3
Divide the frosting equally in three small bowls.
[large_title title=”How To: Decorating the Cupcakes”]
White frosting: Just set aside 1 bowl of frosting
Red Frosting: Take 1 bowl and squeeze in 3-4 drops of red food coloring. Feel free to add more until the right color is achieved.

Chocolate Frosting: Simply mix in 1 tbsp. of cocoa mix into the frosting mixture and stir.
Step 1
The cupcakes should be completely cool by now. So just take a knife and scoop some of the red frosting (interchange between the three different frostings) and start icing the cupcakes. Tip: For more precision, use a piping bag. Let the frosting harden for 1-2 minutes.
Step 2
Once the frosting has set, it is time to add a Halloween touch. We went for the nocturnal theme so we chose these fun vampire fangs to add to our cupcakes. All we have to do is cut the vampire fangs in half so we can press them into the cupcakes. Repeat the process on all the cupcakes.
Final Step
Add a scary faux skeleton in the center of the cupcake stand for an extra Halloween affect. And voila, we’re done!
