James Vincent, Celebrity makeup artist and Director of Artist Relations and Education for the Makeup Show, has revealed the hottest makeup trends this spring and summer. He breaks down the runway beauty looks and shares his tips on how to wear seven of the most fabulous and fun makeup trends coming up. “This season will take some classic colors and looks and make them wearable for everyone, but don’t be afraid to try a few of these runway tricks that will work for all skin tones and lifestyles,” he says.
So beauty lovers, let’s get started!
Trend #1: Pretty in Pastel

Seen on the Runway: Softer, sexier, and seventies vibes are back as expected.
Try the Look: For that runway glam, sweep shadows across the entire lid from lash to brow for a beautiful, modern look. Add in a pastel liner for an even easier enticing step into Spring.
Shop the Look: Try Make Up For Ever AquaXL Pencils in a wide array of pretty pastels or cream shadows from Kryolan or Mehron for double duty, long wear and easy to apply options.
Trend #2: Blue Monday

Seen on the Runway: Who doesn’t love a blue shadow? It is here to stay. From the seventies and eighties, blue shadow was all about hard edges and lines. This season blue is beautiful in its imperfection.
Try the Look: Get ready because blue shadows in powders and creams smudged across the lid and lash line are on trend. Dip your finger or a soft brush into the product and gently swipe.
Shop the Look: Try Cozzette Infinite Eye Shadows for beautiful blues or the talented Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix Creams for an assortment of versatile blues in every hue!
Trend #3: Disco Dolly

Seen on the Runway: Once again, glitter hit the runway. Glitter is taking over for Spring 2018 for its gorgeous grunge aesthetic.
Try the Look: Pair it with a smokey, smudge pencil line for a look that feels more adult and grown up.
Shop the Look: Try Lemonhead Space Jams for glitters, especially their exclusive color with Alcone, cleverly called Alconeholic. A seasonal must have. And for more glitters options there is always Graftobian, Kryolan to Eye Kandy and Stila.
Trend #4: Edge Play

Seen on the Runway: One can do no wrong with a graphic black liner.
Try the Look:Vincent says over the top black eyeliner in graphic shapes and exaggerated application is a huge trend for the season. Be creative.
Shop the Look: The Crown Brush Ultra Skinny Eye Marker liquid eyeliner is an affordable option in a beautiful black pen, along with the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Liners that have strong staying power.
Trend #5: Shine on You Diamond

Seen on the Runway: Inspired by the makeup of Japan and Korea, glazed skin has an almost glasslike effect.
Try the Look: Make sure your skincare prep is at point as you need to set the right canvas. Next, stick to hydrating products (skip the powders) that make the skin look fresh and dewy. Top off with a cream highlighter.
Shop the Look: Try the Limelight by Alcone First Base Makeup Primer Spray before any foundation to create a perfect base. Also the Gleam Body Radiance by Melanie Mills in Disco Gold or Rose Gold are great for under and over any foundation for a most unforgettable look.
Trend #6: High Tea

Seen on the Runway: For a less dramatic option this season, wear tea stained shades for eyes and cheeks.
Try the Look: Pair it with one or more of the dramatic options mentioned above or even on its own. Appropriate for everyday. This soft brown or sepia trend is terrific on eyes and lips!
Shop the Look: Try MustaeV for some stunning lip and eye options. Also, check out the Violet Voss Taupe Notch Eye Shadow Palette.
Trend #7: Seeing Red

Seen on the Runway: The red lip is always a go! Back once more but with a much softer edge.
Try the Look: Always look to classic lipsticks to offer a polished look without any hard lines. Pair your perfect red with a nude pencil, Vincent says.
Shop the Look: Try the “Fire Engine” Lipstick from Gerard Cosmetics and get a red that is timely and timeless!

Q of the Day: Which Makeup Trend do you see yourself rocking this Spring/Summer?

I love bold colors, but I don’t think a lot of people can pull it off on a daily basis. That is why many go to the safe zone of neutrals 🙂 I am looking forward to the new trends-red lipstick is something I see myself wearing this spring season for sure.
xo, http://www.marinablueeyes.com
Disco diamond is my fave! Can you do a tutorial next?
These are all such pretty looks! I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I know many people do. I love the red lipstick.
These are all such fun makeup trends, they are so gorgeous. I have a friend who loves makeup and is always trying out new trends I will def send this to her. Thanks! 🙂
I have seen a lot of pastel colors on the eyes lately! I think spring is the perfect time to pull that off!
They all look amazing. I’m not good at makeup. I wish I was. I always admire how beautiful a person’s eyes can become.
Love the pastels! I normally stick to browns and gold but might have to branch out a bit. Not crazy about the edge play for myself but I can appreciate it on the model!
Look #5, Shine on you Diamond is my favorite look. I don’t do makeup often because I feel like I’m embarrassingly bad at it and don’t take enough time to try to get better. >.> I get embarrassed and give up too easily.
I like the pastel eyes the best. I would see purple being so cute on me.
Very nice blog! I really love those bright colors!
It is always awesome to see what people think will be the trends for the year. I am loving high tea look.
I’m always a fan of red lips and glitter! So many great trends I’ll be trying this season!

Sami
The Classic Brunette
These are some interesting styles. I’m not sure I would be comfortable trying these out because they are pretty bold.
This is a very informative post! I love the pastels, although I really like all the looks!

I do love a red lip, as it is so versatile and goes with most outfits. That being said I would love to try something new like pastel shades for make up although I don’t know if it would suit me. It is always good to try something new though when it comes to make up!
These are all lovely trends, some are perfect for music festivals! For everyday, I think the best looks are 6 and 7. I like the play with different colors!
These are beautiful trends. Can’t wait to try them out this spring!
Love seeing all these trends! I adore makeup but I’m not too daring, the red lip is my favorite!
I love the versatility of all these different makeup looks. Thanks for sharing!
I am loving the direction of these trends. Most of these are really my style.
I’m all for colourful eyes and lips, but I cannot get onboard with the weird circle eyeliner look!? Each to their own of course, but I love me a simple wing!
These are great looks, I really like the turquoise eye, very striking!
James Vincent is surely creative! Anyway, all his beauty trends are bold and would require a ton of audacity before coming out in such. But obviously, Seeing Red and High Tea for me!
I can relate more to trend 6. I’m old and boring, lol. My young adult daughters would love the more edgy looks though as their preference.
I got to tell you, as a person who doesn’t use make up, some of these look impossible to me. Some are really pretty.
I love red lips – it never goes out of style! also neon blue on eyes looks striking! i love this trend a lot!
My favorites are the diamond and high tea ones. I like the subtle look
I’m loving the red color trends. My favorite red lipstick is Fire Engine. A beautiful classic red that never go out of style. Thanks for sharing!
Shine on your diamond is my favourite!! I love that glossy kind of look, it’s so natural and dewy, I much prefer that look.
These colors and blends are all very beautiful! My favorites are the Blue Monday and High Tea. Although I do not wear makeup often and when I do I tend to stick with light and more natural looking.
Wow these are fun! Glad I visited your page because am also looking for the makeup trends for this summer. Need to update my knowledge. Thanks!
Oh, Those are some beautiful makeup this summer. I love the simplicity of the colors. I love the Pretty in Pastel.
I love all the looks but shine on you diamond and blue Monday looks are my favorite and I just can’t wait to try them out!
So many fun trends this season! I am all about the bright colors that pop and I am so excited to try some of these out!!
I wish I knew how to paint my face. I have been watching online tutorials but am not quite there yet.
The 70’s and 80’s revival gave me a flashback of me at my parents dressing table putting on my eye shadow after my parents had gone out for the evening. My mum said she returned to find me asleep in the middle of the bed and her new crocheted bedspread besmeared with blue and green eye shadow 🙂
I love the pastels so much! I’d be a bit afraid of the glitter b/c things tend to bother my eyes, but I’m a sucker for a classic red lip! 🙂
Those are such interesting, different, and creative makeup looks. I know my daughter would appreciate the high tea one. The Diamond one is pretty as well. I think red is classic and the pastel would definitely be daring.
These are all such unique makeup trends, guess I’m not trendy because I had no idea about these! They are super cute though I hope the trend continues. Thanks for sharing.
Red and high tea, definitely trends that I can follow during summer and spring, others are too bold for me.
I’m not a big fan of the dramatic bold looks, partly because they never look right on me.., I just can’t seem to pull them off.. But I really like the Disco diamond and High Tea!
I am not into make-up trends but I happy to see I finally follow one trend: red lips :))) . I rock red lips all the time because red goes with everything. Glad that we see pastels not just in clothes.
Those are really great make up idea for Spring, but since I am into looking natural, I opt for trend 6 and 7. I’ll probably try the rest for parties.
I am liking the diversity in the looks and the models. Not sure these are for everyday but they still pretty fly!
I am truly loving the looks with the pop of color. This is definitely something I love to do especially when the weather gets warmer.
I like the pastel look and added with statement earrings. The whole look gives instant positive vibe that is best for this summer season.
i am not a fashionista but that post really gives me an inspiration. I like trend no 6.
Although usually I like strong, quirky make up, somehow I cannot relate to these styles. Maybe it’s because they look like make up accidents. But hey, everyone has a different taste – and that’s a great thing!
I am loving the pastel and blue trend but i am not sure it would look on me. I always go for a very neutral and natural makeup but with summer coming, i might want to try something else
Not really crazy about the pastel and blue. The shine and red lip is lovely, though.
I love those red lips. So beautifully shaded. My mom will love that Fire Engine lipstick.
Every style has its own unique. I love reading posts about makeup like this! Thanks for sharing!
