Last Minute Holiday Nail Art & Tutorial

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]othing like getting into the holiday season than with fun, glittery nails. Let’s face it, gray skies and cold days are practically begging for some excitement on the nails. And what better way to get some festive spirit than with two amazing nail designs, which include light and delicate snowflake wonderland and an adorable reindeer.  The best part is that I’ve made an easy to follow nail guide so you can recreate these festive nails at home.

Glittery Snowflake Wonderland

This simple to do glittery nail look is absolutely stunning for the holiday season.

What you’ll need:

• Light blue nail polish
• Light Gray nail polish
• Silver holographic nail polish
• Small nail art brush
• White acrylic paint

How to Get the Look:

Step 1: To start off with this manicure we are going to use a base coat to protect our natural nails, then apply our polishes onto the nails. Mix up the colors to whatever you like best! Light blue and gray just seemed to perfectly resemble what the winter days feel like to me! I am using Zoya’s ‘Blu’, Glisten & Glow’s ‘OG Snowman’, and KB Shimmer’s ‘Alloy Matey’. [ Feel free to use any nail polishes of you choice ]

Step 2: To place the snowflakes, we are going to start off with figuring out where our spacing is going to go. I like to have two snowflakes per nail usually so I placed two dots far apart from each other. These dots are going to be the middle of our snowflakes. I am making the dots using white acrylic paint and a dotting tool. If you don’t have a dotting tool, you can use a pen or a bobby pin.

Step 3: Using a small nail art brush, dip into the white acrylic paint and draw five lines around the center dot. Then, draw small lines from those. I dip the brush into water before going into the acrylic paint so it’s easier to draw. Do the same thing for your next snowflake.

Step 4: To add some extra glitter to the manicure add some glitter dots! I did these with a dotting took and used the same polish we have on the accent nail.

Final step: Add some quick dry glossy top coat and you’re done!

Reindeer Glam

What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a fun and festive reindeer nail art that is sure to add some holiday cheer  to any outfit.

What you’ll need:

• Red glitter nail polish
• Acrylic paints
• Small nail art brush
• Dotting tool

How to Get the Look:

Step 1: I chose this awesome red holographic polish as the base for the nails (except the ring finger) because it has a reflective sheen in the sun. Even in indoor lighting, the polish looks like it glows! However, feel free to use any red glitter of your choice.

For the ring finger, I went for a light brown color. I applied a coat of quick dry top coat to protect the base layers of polish in case we have any mistakes when we are painting the designs.

Step 2: Using a small nail art brush, I dipped into a light brown acrylic paint and drew the silhouette of our reindeer. Sometimes acrylic paint can be patchy, so just wait a bit for the first layer to dry, then fill in any areas of patchiness.

Step 3: I used the same brush dipped into a medium brown to outline our reindeer. If your lines get a bit wonky, then you can use light pressure and scrape away any mistakes. The polish below the design must be completely dry for you to do this. If the acrylic paint is still wet, then simply wipe it away with some water!

Step 4: Next, I drew on some antlers using the same brush and acrylic paint.

Step 5: With a dotting tool, I made some white dots using white acrylic paint. I prefer to use acrylic paint in these kinds of instances because it’s easier to fix mistakes. Then, using the same dotting tool, I added smaller black dots for the reindeer’s eyes.

Step 6: Using the same nail art brush, I used the polish we have on the other fingers, and drew on Rudolf’s nose. This really ties in the design onto the other nails.

Final Step: Wait for the design to dry, then apply a coat of quick dry top coat. And voila, you have a fun, festive nail design for the holidays.
