[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ne of our favorite things to do every month is explore new brands and beauty products. In March we came across several fantastic new brands that caught our attention at the Makeup Show LA. One of those companies was MustaeV, a Korean cosmetic company established in the Seoul’s Cheongdam area known as the beauty mecca of Korea. After talking to us more about their company’s cosmetic line, the MustaeV team gave us the opportunity to try a few of their products to see what we thought of them. Here we share our full review with swatches on some of their single eyeshadows and color powders.

Single Eyeshadows | Color Payoff/Texture |
The single eyeshadows have a smooth velvety texture without feeling powdery. Often times, eyeshadows with similar velvety texture can be difficult to work with when it comes to application. However, these eyeshadows actually allowed us to pack on the color and still be able to blend effortlessly. We are also impressed with the high pigmentation of these shadows, especially “Burn” and “Mossy“. It can be a hit and miss when it comes to finding eyeshadows that show up true to color on the lids as they look on the pan. We were happy to find that these three eyeshadows showed up true to color when we swatched and applied them on the lids.

Any glitter enthusiast knows loose glitters or powders for that matter, can and are, usually very difficult to work with. They can often be patchy and leave a lot of fallout–creating a large mess. Not necessarily the case with the MustaeV color powders. They have a gorgeous luminous glow to them that you don’t normally get with similar products. When we first felt these loose color powders we were immediately impressed how smooth they felt on the touch. And like the single eyeshadows, the moonlight and starlight powders are not shy with their high pigmentation. The best part is how they feel on the lids. Good glitter powders can be particularly difficult to find as they can often feel stiff on the lids.

Like any eyeshadow in the market, a primer is always recommended prior to application. With this in mind, we did apply our too faced shadow insurance before using these shadows. However, we did notice that because these shadows are very pigmented, the primer was more for giving an added lasting power and didn’t need any help boosting the color. As eyeshadow connoisseurs, we appreciate when a beauty product holds true to form. One of our favorite things about theses eyeshadows is how easy they are to blend without leaving any major creasing. “Pekoe” is a lovely matte nude beige eyeshadow that is that perfect transitional color you use on the crease whether it’s to blend and soften the rest of the eyeshadows or simply to add dimension to our eye makeup.

Like most loose powders, we have to be careful when applying the powders on the eyes. We found that lightly dipping our brush in the lid rather than in the tub makes it easier to grab the powder without taking too much and minimizing most of the fallout. In fact, the powders have unique adherence properties that make they stay really well on the lids while not needing to break a sweat applying them. Also, a little bit goes a long way with these powders as they do pack on a rich, shimmering sheen. These color powders add that extra oomph to any eyeshadow.

It is hard to describe how these color powders feel. The only way we can come up with is that they are a hybrid between a creamy loose eyeshadow and a tub of sparkly glitter. These finely milled powders are so smooth they almost dissolve on the skin, leaving the skin bathed in a burt of sparkle and shine. We have never come across anything remotely like the feel or appearance of the Mustaev color powders. And depending on the angle of the lighting can add a whole different dimension to them, especially paired on top of the MustaeV eyeshadows.

The eyeshadows come in their own pods which we like as single shadows can sometimes come with out a pan or any packaging for that matter. This helps traveling with these shadows much easier. They also have a sturdy snap which helps avoid any chance of dirt to coming into the shadows nor the eyeshadows from getting everywhere in our makeup bag or on our clothes.

Only con about these color powders is that we wished they had a sift built in to the packaging so it would be easier to control how much powder we want as opposed to carefully angling the container to avoid using too much.

We have been using the Mustaev eyeshadows interchangeably for over a month now, and we continue to be impressed with how easy these high performance eyeshadows help us create great eye makeup even on a busy schedule.

By far one of our favorite MustaeV products in their, the color powders pack great color pigmentation and look absolutely beautiful on the lids. If we had to choose on which MustaeV product to try first, we would definitely recommend these color powders.
