We love staying on the radar of any new additions Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics might add to their line. So we were excited about their Spring 2014 Campaign, ‘Plastic Passion‘, featuring legendary Deven Green as the face of their newest spring collection. Looking to inspire the boldness in us, OCC launches 6 vibrant new shades of Lip Tar in both matte and metallic finishes. Here’s a look at a few of the new products in this collection.
LIPTARS

POOL BOY (A vibrant, aqua blue): Now we know this color can make many of us pause because frankly how do we rock this color? While it’s no way a common color most of us wear for everyday, it’s absolutely fantastic for those days where we want to live a little on the edge. The OCC Lip Tars are known for their saturated pigmentation, so when we say use only a dot of this stuff…we mean it.
ROLLERGIRL (A neon pink with blue undertone): Not only is this a gorgeous neon pink color a great one for those of us who love our pinks, it’s also one of the more versatile colors in the bunch. It can be used as a lip color, a blush, and a highlighter in one.
MANNEQUIN: (A bright, lavender purple): This color is our absolute favorite in the mix. It bumps up the fuschia/berry lip we’ve all come to love, especially in the winter. We can definitely see this color trending this season.

How to Use
We suggest exfoliating and moisturizing the lips before using the lip tars, especially since the matte finish has a tendency to highlight any dry, cracked areas on our lips.
For better application, line the lips with either a Cosmetic Colour Pencil or any lip pencil of choice before applying the lip tar. Next use a lip (or concealer) brush to apply the color on the lips. Make sure to build slowly, as too much can bleed to your teeth and other areas around your mouth. Optional: use a concealer around the lips to sharpen the lines.

Cosmetic Colour Pencils
These pencils work perfectly with the new Lip Tar shades, especially the shades Hoochie & Anti-Feathered.

The texture of Pool Boy and Hoochie is fantastic. OCC has found the balance between a creamy and sturdy formula. There’s no tugging on the lips but we still benefit from a more precise line without losing the ability to easily blend the color. Now we’re still getting use to the anti-feathered pencil because it’s something completely new for us. Yet, we did see that it helped stop some of the bleeding around the edges of our lips.

Nail Lacquer
Also to accompany the new Lip Tar shades are 6 bright nail polishes.
DEVEN GREEN (neon green): This is one of the best shades in the collection, but we could be a little bias since we adore green polishes. These polishes are incredibly opaque so the color on the bottle is exactly what we get on our nail. However, the nail polish can be a tad difficult to work with at first as we get use to working with the formula. Less is more when it comes to applying this on our nail, making sure to scrape the excess off the each time we dip our brush.

Overall
We love this collection. It’s fun, it’s exciting and it’s thinking outside of the norm. We think there’s something for everyone, whether it’s a gal who loves rocking bold lips or a a gal who loves a little of pizazz on her nails.
