There is something thrilling about the anticipation of a party you’ve worked hard on, especially after the 8 cups of coffee and 3hrs of sleep. Maybe it’s because for that one special night, we’re the center of attention–completely basking in our total awesomeness as host. As the french would say, it’s ‘Joie De Vivre’ or the joy of entertaining. To do so, we must first dial up our inner party planner (it’s lurking inside for some of us, we just don’t know it yet). As long as we’re creative and confident, our party is sure to be unforgettable. But every fabulous party starts with a great theme. Here are a few theme ideas to throw the best bash ever.
Accessory Swapping
Have each guest bring at least 5 items. These can include purses, jewelry, designer perfume, sunglasses, belts, and other similar items. Next personalize the party with a name for our ‘specialty’ boutique. Even create a logo for the boutique. A fashion-inspired menu is a must! Not sure what kind? Try these: Miu Miu martinis, Coco Chanel cheese and crackers plate, and designer cupcakes. The rules are simple. Each guest leaves with the same number of items they came with. Keep the decorations modern and trendy. Let’s not forget the SWAG bags. Most celebrity bashes always end with an incredible SWAG bag, so give guests a goody bag filled with treats to take home.
Scrapbooking
Before we shut down the idea altogether, let’s first give it a chance. Not all parties have to be a huge bash. Sometimes less is more. In this case, we’re bringing out our creativity in a calm and relaxed setting. So let’s get started. Stock up on patterned paper and stickers from the craft store. Hundreds of amazing items can be found there. Next find and arrange photos, ticket stubs, invites, postcards, and magazine clippings to separate piles so it’s easy to start assembling the scrapbook together. Just make sure each person brings their own special memorabilia. So as long as we provide enough scissors, artist pens, glue, tunes, and table space, this get-together is sure to be a success.
A Mall Scavenger Hunt
Looking to avoid the clean-up, but still want to host a fab get together? Not a problem! Our favorite mall might just be the ideal place to invite friends over for an afternoon of hunting. Here’s where gadgets come in handy. Use iPads and iPhones and cameras to document each find. But first make a list of 5-10 items guests will need to find in order to win. So whether it’s trying on a hat, hugging a cute security guard, or dressing up a mannequin in the Victoria Secret’s window, all are perfect photo ops for us and our guests. Want to raise the ante? Set a time limit. The first person to complete the list and returns to the designated meeting place wins something fabulous like a cute clutch or killer stilett0s.
