[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith winter a thing of the past and the weather becoming warmer for most us, it’s usually right about now that we’re all ready for the outdoors. And our backyards are the perfect place to experience it. But unless your fortunate to have inherited a celebrity-worthy masterpiece out back, chances are your backyard needs a little good old TLC. Now there’s a ton of landscaping tips and latest design out there, which is fantastic, but can also leave us feeling overwhelmed by how to use it for our own space. This is why we thrilled to share with you all some of our favorite backyard ideas and some budget-friendly tips on how to transform your backyard from boring to exciting.
Cleaning and decluttering
This is especially necessary for people who didn’t pay much attention to their backyard in the past and used it as a simple storage area. Go through everything you have in your backyard, leave only the items you plan on using and throw away everything else. If you’re unsure what should stay and what needs to go, follow this simple rule: if you haven’t used a particular thing in the past year, don’t keep it anymore. You also need to clean everything to be able to see what you’re working with and once you do that, all that’s left is mowing the lawn.
Create a comfortable sitting area
No matter how fun playing Frisbee and throwing barbecue parties is, there’s so much more to your backyard than this. Just imagine how your family can utilize this space and consider creating a comfortable sitting area where you can relax with your friends and family. This can come in handy for hosting garden parties or having a meal with your loved ones. To make things even cozier, add a few blankets and pillows for those lazy days, or, if you want to take this sitting area to a whole new level, think about building a deck or a patio for additional sitting space.
Plant a variety of plants
With landscaping trends constantly changing, many people tend to follow all the rules and try out as many trends as they can. This is noticeable in lots of backyards in Australia where people like to make the most of their gardeåns. The only thing that may stand in their way is the rather warm climate, which is why they like to turn to experts in landscaping to help them create the perfect garden design. The harsh Australian climate can affect plants and this is why people who live in unusual weather conditions could always use some help.
Add a fire pit or a bonfire
There’s something romantic in sitting outside, relaxing by the fire, listening to your favorite music and enjoying your free time. But, this feature offers so much more, as well as lots of variations – from a small bonfire to a luxurious fireplace. Besides being a dashing addition to your outdoors, this feature will keep the bugs away, and that’s always a plus. Whether you decide to use copper, stone or metal, play with size and shapes freely, creating your own outdoor focal point that will round off the overall design of your backyard.
Tackle on unique projects
The perfect water feature can be a great way to add some style to your background without spending too much money. Everything from a garden pond to a small fountain will do, and all of these ideas can be turned into a DIY project if you choose the location, materials, design and size yourself. Apart from that, you can make a vertical garden if you have an empty wall or a fence you want to brighten up. Hanging clay pots with colorful flowers is an easy way to include more plants to your backyard, but don’t forget to leave some space for more flowers in the future. However, if you want to try something really exciting, hang a big picture frame with a cell plant tray attached to it and make the most picturesque scenery on your wall.
You can spice up your backyard in so many different ways, but always keep the end result in mind and try to create a space that’s both functional and beautiful. These projects can make your outdoor area look amazing and enjoyable, so let your imagination run wild. Not only will you get a chance to spend more time with your family in the open, but also increase the value of your home.
