In this week’s episode of Castle, we wonder how long will Castle and Beckett’s secret stay safe, now that Castle’s mom knows all about the relationship. She even advises him to tell Alexis about what’s been going on. Guess another thing Alexis can pack up before she leaves to college. Of course Beckett isn’t happy that Alexis knows, since news might reach Captain Gates’ ears, and she and Castle won’t be able to work together. In the mist of Alexis big move, Castle complains about all the boxes Alexis needs, but Beckett explains that we all need our stuff, boxes for comfort.
Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of Wendy, a girl from Philly, who had a gunshot wound to the chest. She left the word ‘Lie’ written in blood. But ever the witty Castle, he comments on the clue saying, ‘she could have left a more helpful note.’ They then find a threatening text from Joel Cheesesteaks who is upset at the victim for taking off with his $4000 dollars. Again comes Castle with his witty humor. He apparently can’t believe they have the best cheesesteak in Philly. What else does Castle do? He picks up Beckett’s phone and looks through her drawer for a pen. While he searches, he finds a figure made of twigs. He asks Beckett about it, but she’s get upset at him for answering her phone and going through her stuff.
We find out Wendy was planning on bidding on a Storage unit. Yep, just like Storage Wars. Castle turns the word ‘Lie’ upside down and finds it turns to the number 317, which happens to be the unit Wendy was killed for. Kate and Castle decide to go and bid on the unit since they can’t get a warrant. Castle has $2000 in his pocket, but they have a war on their hands. When they didn’t have enough money, Kate gets Castle’s signature and sells it to Big Percy, whose mom loves Castle’s books. She also promises Castle will name the next character after his mom. Percy gives her $1600 and the two get the unit for $3600. Big Percy congrats Castle for his win and reminds him his mom’s name is Eunice.
As the two look through the unit, Captain Gates walks in and is furious with all the junk in the office, until she realizes there is a precious doll. Castle gives it to her, and she tells them to carry on. They find out the owner of the bin is Johan Fleming, someone who doesn’t exist because the real name is Wendell Dupree. Castle suddenly has a thought and realizes ‘John Flemming’ is Zan, the male half of the Wonder Twins ( a reference to Super Friends).
Unfortunately the rest don’t know what Castle is talking about and just stare at him. It turns out Wendy and Wendell were twins. They also had a hard life, especially when their parents died in a car crash. Wendy believed that her brother Wendell was killed. Castle and Beckett find out Wendell worked for a socialite named Angelica Henley. Angelica tells them she was robbed, but Wendell was cleared of robbery two days before he died. It turns out Angelica found out nothing in her safe was taken so she used the robbery to her advantage, and reported the 4 million dollar bracelet missing. She ends up pleading guilty for insurance fraud.
Castle and Beckett want to kiss, but they can’t so instead they shake hands, using their imagination. Then Castle says his hands are sweaty, which Beckett says she knows and its gross. Ahhh! So much for romance.
Back at Alexis’ dorm, Castle and Alexis talk about his relationship with Beckett. Alexis tells him she’s not worried about Beckett taking her place. She knows he is near. Before leaving, Castle checks under the bed one last time, making sure there are no monsters. Once outside, Castle notices a girl looking at her bear bag, and something sparks. He immediately goes to the office and takes Captain Gates’ own prized collectable and throws it on the floor. Then he takes the one found at unit and throws it on the ground, where a glass eye and USB drive pops out. At this point, Captain Gates is giving him the look of death. Seriously, if her look could kill, he’d be dead.
They see the crime see photo of Wendell and Wendy parents, and notice there’s a glass eye. Castle can’t contain himself and yells the butler did it. We find out Wendell had stolen the butler’s spare eye. They go arrest the butler for the murder of Wendell and Wendy.
Gates hates Castle right now since those Gemini dolls meant a lot to her. Yikes, we hope Castle can find some replacements asap! Finally Beckett and Castle have a some time alone. Beckett tells him the story behind the figurine he found inside her drawer. It was a memory of her mother’s funeral. Her dad had taken her to Coney Island, where they used twigs that washed up on the shore to create the figurine. Castle then asks her if it’s a bad day or good. Beckett says both. Castle shakes Beckett’s hand with the promise of talking.
