We are back in the town of Bluebell, where the drama on Hart of Dixie has been brewing since we last left off where George Tucker (Scott Porter) cancelled his wedding to Lemon Breeland (Jamie King). George realized he just couldn’t let Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) get away. Zoe Hart has been in love with George since he was engaged with Lemon. But she ends up sleeping with Wade (Wilson Bethel). The season opens with remnants of a wedding that never took place and questions as to whose fault it was. Zoe has to share the news with Lavon (Criss Williams) since he’s her best friend. Lavon just laughs and can’t believe she slept with Wade. He tells Zoe she needs to get a girlfriend, he advises her to be honest with Wade and George.
George shows up at Zoe’s house telling her he cancelled the wedding for her and that he wants her, just as Wade enters the kitchen. Wade is surprised to see George there, since he didn’t know the wedding was cancelled. To keep Wade quiet she offers muffins but Wade says thanks for last night. He says it on purpose knowing full well how Zoe feels about George. On the other hand, George is shocked Zoe slept with Wade. Is it us or is everyone’s reaction to Wade is pretty much the same? George wants to know if Zoe has feelings for Wade, but she doesn’t know. Now she has to make a choice and George wants her to choose him. Ok, we can’t help but laugh when Zoe tells Lavon he makes a terrible girlfriend.
Lemon’s friends are full of bad advice as to what she should do with her future, especially after being with George for fifteen years. However, she insists she will make it on her own.
Zoe runs into shirtless Wade, under a car. He’s very defensive, now that he knows George is available and Zoe has always liked him. He even goes to the extent of rating their sex as a b minus. So immature of Wade, but she knows he acts that way.
As Zoe is removing wax from a patient’s ear, he calls her a home wrecker. However, his granddaughter and former Bluebell resident, Ruby Jeffries (Golden Brooks) tells Zoe she likes her already. Zoe decides to meet her later since she’s desperately in need of a friend. They meet up, but Ruby leaves as George shows up. Ruby runs into Lemon who is looking at job ads. But Lemon isn’t too thrilled to see her. And after a conversation about her work experience, or lack thereof, Lemon ends up going home upset. The moment she arrives home, lays the blame on her dad for her current situation. She asks him why he never encouraged her to be anything other than a wife, even a doctor like him. He tells her, “but you hate bodily fluids”. She tells him he is coddling her. He tries to get her to help organize and return the wedding gifts. But Lemon ends up grabbing the cake knife and walking out of the house…
Ruby visits the house, and Zoe finds out Ruby and Lavon have a past. She ends up spilling wine all over herself–leaving the two alone to go change. But she doesn’t return. But Ruby leaves because Lavon acts all uncomfortable.
Lemon shows up at Zoe’s door with the knife in hand. Zoe attempts to karate chop her, but falls down. She thinks Lemon is trying to kill her. Lemon just gives her a look and puts the knife down. She tells Zoe she is having a heart attack and she can’t deal with her dad’s coddling. She would rather spend her last day with her sworn enemy. Zoe tells her she’s been through a lot and she’s just having panic attack. However, Lemon refuses to accept that because it makes her look weak. Zoe tells her to take the valium pills and no one will know.
By now the town has gotten hold of the gossip. It’s a small town anyway. Everyone is excited for Bluebell’s first hostage situation. They all run to stand in front of Zoe’s home. George and Wade start fighting. Wade just finds everything very interesting when Lavon wants to talk to Lemon but George stops him. Finally when Zoe and Lemon come out, Sheriff Bill says he is charging Lemon for kidnapping with a deadly weapon. Lemon says she was just going to return the wedding present Mrs. Whitaker gave her. Too bad for Sheriff Bill, he looks like he was hoping to have a real case. Deciding to speak to the town, Lemon tells them it’s no one faults, things between her and George just weren’t met to be. For now the town goes back to normal, with Wade offering Lemon a job, and Lavon and Ruby finally talk. Zoe tells George he needs to start seeing other woman and be on his own for a while. She doesn’t want to be his rebound. She says she choose no one. Yet, once again she ends up in bed with Wade.
