CW’s new show Star-Crossed just keeps getting better and better, and the eighth episode was no exception. Here is our recap of “An Old Accustom’d Feast” this past Monday.
Castor and Gloria are talking about an Atrian holiday, when Castor tells Emery she might get invited to the sector since it’s the only way she can celebrate Dinaskyu with the Atrians.
Roman and Emery sneak into a storage closet to kiss. He then invites her to the Atrian holiday celebration with him, and she says yes. However, she is concerned about the safety of the sector. She hopes one day they won’t need to hide. Roman warns her that the one problem they have is his mother. Emery second-guesses on whether to go or not, but Roman changes her mind and tells her it’s important to him.
Ms. Benton asks Julia to help her with the organic chemistry study for extra credit. Julia believes it’s an internship so she agrees to do it. Julia tells Emery all about the internship. Emery also confides on how amazing Roman is but the relationship definitely has its complications. She also tells Julia that Roman invited her to Dinaskyu. Julia says Sofia invited her and she will be there too.
Roman tells Drake to guess what day it is, and Drake says it’s the day “you invite me to spend Dinaskyu with your family,” which Roman counters that it’s the day Drake turns him down to go sulk in his pod. Wanting this year to be different, Roman tells Drake to accept the invitation, especially since Drake killed a psycho Trag who was posing as a teenager and saved Edendale from the deadly black cypress spores. Plus they’ve also started school. Roman tells Drake he has a family, so Drake accepts the invitation so long as he can bring over some dovor.
Gloria approaches Roman. She wants him to meet with some dignitaries and take some photos with them because he became so well known from his speech on arrival day. Roman rejects the offer. He is pissed off she had an affair with his father and thinks she wants to exploit the holiday, which is all about family. Gloria reminds him about how his father felt about the integration program and how he would want them to work together and trust each other. Gloria really wants the program to work. He tells her he will do what he can for the program because he still believes in integration, but he will not be her dancing monkey nor will he trust her.
Emery tries to break things off with Grayson but he barely lets her talk. He knows she is in love with an Atrian since he saw her with Roman. He tells her he knows she was responsible for his mother getting arrested. Even though he apologizes, her makes her feel guilty despite the fact he knows his mother is a terrorist. Personally, we’re glad Emery is with Roman. With parents who are Red Hawks, the apple can’t fall to far from the tree.
Castor and Roman pay a visit to Vega where they confront her about all the recent activities inside and outside of the sector, including the recent Trag attacks on the humans and the black cypress spores. She wants to know what the purpose of this visit. Roman tells her she must guarantee the safety of the humans while the holiday celebration is on. If anything happens, she will give Castor no choice to turn her and her followers to the SEU. Vega says all she hears is threats but nothing in return. It is a tradition to give gifts during Dinaskyu. Castor asks her what she wants. She tells him she doesn’t know at the moment, but when she does she expects them to deliver.
Castor is enjoying being the leader of the Atrians. Roman, on the other hand, wishes he could turn Vega in, but Castor says they don’t want the Trags to be Martyrs. He tells Roman he wants to fight for the Atrians’ freedom in honor of his father.
Ms. Benton shows Julia the DNA of cypress in the body. She wants to know how Cypress works, but Julia is no interested. Looks like Benton is bad news
Drake tells Roman about his new position as the new Trag and that he can’t make it to Dinaskyu with his family.
Roman asks Gloria to release prisoner 337 from the crate. If she did this during Dinaskyu, his people will never forget it. She tells him no, but Roman continues to insist to trust him like she wants him to trust her.
Castor tells Emery the best way to a mother’s heart is to make her son happy. Emery helps a little girl with a rope, and turns it into the shape of the star, which Sofia’s face immediately recognizes.
Gloria goes to release the prisoner. When Soroya (the prisoner) goes into the water she comes out looking young and beautiful.
As always Drakes visits the wall of the fallen or missing Atrians to place a kiss on his mother’s face.
Back at Roman’s place, Castor is passing a bowl of water for all to place their fingers. Unfortunately, Roman’s mother refuses to participate and only speaks their language, making Emery feel unwelcomed.
Soroya is taken to her pod, but when Gloria leaves, she runs out.
Roman’s mom cannot forgive what Emery’s father has done to her family. But Sofia tells her mother that Emery was the girl that saved Roman, leaving his mom a little emotional.
Elsewhere, Grayson sees a surveillance video of him being kidnapped from his home, apparently he was drugged.
Again Benton finds Julia at the sector. Turns out she was invited to the party. She subtly threatens to put something in her dad’s drink if Julia continues to refuse to work with her. She really wants to know how the cypress got in Julia’s body. Cornered, Julia tells Benton the location. She then goes to Emery to say she needs to leave.
As they all continue with the celebration, Roman’s mom finally decides to join in. As Soroya comes to join them, Castor spots her and tries to hide. We find out Soroya is Drake’s mother, and the two hug.
Evil Benton ends up finding the place where cypress grows and finds an arm full of cypress coming out of it. She realizes cypress grows from the body of Atrians. She then calls Mr. Burk and tells him to bury them all.
Emery and Roman discuss the machine she found. He explains the machine is like a flight recorder. She tells him his uncle Castor shot the pilot. Now here’s hoping Roman finally catches on that his uncle is a bad guy. Look like things are going to get even more interesting from here on out.
