[dropcap]H[/dropcap]eld at the LA Live Event Deck, the ever popular Generation Beauty was a must-not miss event this month. Presented by YouTube mega sensation Michelle Phan and Ipsy, this fabulous 2-day event attracts people from around the world to discover beauty brands, learn valuable tips, connect with other fellow beauty enthusiasts, and try out fantastic beauty products. Already in its third year, the exciting buzz for Generation Beauty continues to grow more and more. In fact, getting your hands on a ticket can come down to the wire. So knowing this, I purchased my ticket well in advance (exactly eleven months ago). A tad excessive maybe, but there was no way Modern Chic wasn’t going to go to Gen Beauty this year. Take a look at my experience at Gen Beauty.
Upon making my way to the LA Live Deck where the event, I could help but feel my excitement bubble to the surface the moment I first caught a glimpse of the large white tent where the event was going to be held at. The doors officially opened at 11am, and the line of attendees quickly made their way into tent to try to get in line at the different brand booths to get their beauty “treat”.
For those who have yet to attend Gen Beauty, you may be a bit confused as to how it all works. On registration and after receiving your badge to the event, attendees are given a “Gen Beauty” tote with a rip-out card showcasing the different brands at the event. Once you enter the event, you have the choice to head towards a brand on your rip-out card to pick up a free beauty product. Often times, the beauty products are full size, and yet to be released to the public. Tip: Due to the popularity of the event, expect large lines as they’re unavoidable so definitely suggest comfortable (but cute) clothes and shoes.
While people can stay in the different lines picking up their treats, there is plenty of opportunities to catch your favorite Youtube beauty gurus and influencers throughout the event as they share their story, beauty favorites and tips. And if you’re a social media lover, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to snap a photo, use hashtags and post pictures online of everything you see and meet. Those attendees who needed a break from the bustle inside could take a break and have lunch at one of the many food trucks just outside the event. Oh and did we forget the amazing goodie bag every attendee gets?
Now Generation Beauty is the perfect place for all beauty enthusiasts and artists. This year, I attended the event with my lovely and talented friend Rebekka, a make up artist extraordinaire. You can catch her amazing creative skills on Instagram at Sweetrebekka144 so definitely check her out for beauty inspirations. Side story: First first words upon meeting her were, “OMG, your blending is phenomenal!” Obviously followed by, can I be your friend? I definitely recommend going to Gen Beauty with a friend or group of friends who love makeup as much you do as you can take selfies at the different photo ops throughout the event–making the experience that more rich.
Our 2-day adventures were plentiful, almost too many to mention. Chocked full of makeovers, contests, and freebies we were like kids in a candy store. Certainly one of the highlights was meeting Michelle Phan and the other fantastic stylists. The MeetShops agenda was definitely not be missed on both days. How else were we going to meet LustreLux, Desi, and Chrisspy? Michelle’s welcome speech was full of positivity and authenticity. She genuinely wanted us all to come together to connect in our love of all beauty and form a lasting friendship. And this is what sets this event apart from other similar events…that unique connection you can’t help share the moment you step foot at Generation Beauty.
Some of our favorite brands were: Too Faced, Pro Active, SmashBox, and Pacifica, as well the Ipsy shop and the NYX counters where you could cast your vote for their Face Awards.
Can’t forget the amazing products like soon to be released ‘Born This Way’ Foundation from Too Faced (review here), the Smasbox’s Gel Liners, and Cargo’s eye liners. In fact, most of my treats in my bags; there was so much. I think we needed a third day to experience all the brands because there just isn’t enough time to enjoy everything there. But of course, there is always next year…
A special Thank you to Michelle Phan and Ipsy for hosting an incredible and memorable weekend of friendship and beauty treats. What more does a girl want?
