One of our favorite things about the POPSUGAR must have subscription is how each box is carefully curated to give subscribers a good taste of beauty, fashion and lifestyle products. So there is something for everyone.

This month’s must have box was no exception. Every item cohesively worked well alone and with each other, whether it was making a hot coco with the drinking chocolate mix and sipping it in our rise & shine mug or curling up on the couch with Lisa Sugar’s Power Your Happy book on our lap.

But let’s jump into what we thought about each product in our box.

First up is our favorite item of the bunch, the Power Your Happy book written by POPSUGAR’s founder Lisa Sugar. As longtime fans of Sugar’s inspiring success, we were thrilled to get a copy of her new book. Power Your Happy is an amazingly upbeat and inspirational memoir that offers encouraging career and personal advice, personal anecdotes and witty humor from Lisa herself. One of our favorite chapters is the WTF Does “Work Hard, Play Nice” Mean?, where she shares her mission for POPSUGAR to be a website that would distance itself from the meanness on the Internet. She also talks about the importance of being able to do a little bit of everything whether you’re the new intern or the boss. We definitely recommend picking up a copy of Sugar’s new book. Trust us, you’re not going to want to put it down.

Next favorite of ours was the Rise & Shine mug from Morning Culture. We keep seeing quotable mugs everyone, and so we were happy to add this one to our collection.  

A great feature is how hefty the cup is without it feeling too heavy to carry from room to room. In fact, we have been using this fun, minimalist mug nonstop for our morning dose of coffee and hot tea.

We love a good cup of hot cocoa in the Fall and winter, and so when we discovered the My Cup of Cocoa’s Dark Drinking Chocolate in our box, we couldn’t wait to try it for ourselves. It’s incredibly easy to make too. All you need is to mix in 2 tablespoons of the cocoa mix in 8 ounces of hot milk or any milk alternative (i.e. soy milk, almond, etc.) until smooth.

We personally used soy milk and were pleasantly surprised with how rich and decadent the hot chocolate came out. The built in sweetness helps mellow some of the dark chocolate notes, which if you’re a milk chocolate lover you’ll appreciate.

The next two items in our box were makeup related, and included the Magic Eraser mini and the Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen. Now we’ve gotten the chance to demo a magic eraser before and have been impressed with its performance. This mini version works just like the original as it easily wipes off makeup effortlessly. The best part is that the product is incredibly soft so you’re not scratching your face in the process.

Moving on to the Liquid Eye Pen from Revlon. We love a good eye pen. In fact, it’s our go-to tool liner for creating our cat eye look. But we tend to be cautious with what type of eyeliner we use as we have oily lids so waterproof and smudgeproof formulas are generally a must. However, we have loved the products from Revlon’s ColorStay line so far, so we wanted to see if their eye pen would hold up. And it did! Not only did application turn out to be easy, but the performance was top notch. Despite our dreaded oily lids, our liner was left intact. Granted, we have yet to try to see if the liner will last the full 16 hrs it promises, but the 8 hours we did need the eyeliner to stay put it did.

As you can see the brush is thicker at the base and tapers to a thin line. This gives us the freedom to create a thin or thick line depending on the look we want to create. The black eyeliner was wonderfully opaque, which we definitely need our liner to be. Definitely a must have beauty product.

Following the beauty theme was the Lalicious Brown Sugar Vanilla bath oil and bubble bath. After a long day, we love unwinding to a nice hot bubble bath in the evenings, especially during the Fall season. Generally, we lean towards fresh, floral scents for our bath products, but there is something so warm and enticing about the brown sugar and hints of vanilla in this product. It also leaves a light sugary scent to the skin, which we loved smelling on us after our bath. If you love sweet (but not overly sweet) scents you will like this one.

Last but certainly not least is the gorgeous Henri Bendel packable umbrella. We are huge fans of Henri Bendel, and own a few jewelry and home decor pieces. So we are excited to add the lovely umbrella to our collection.

Now if we could simply get some good rain in Southern California then we could rock our Bendel umbrella outdoors.
