[dropcap]H[/dropcap]alloween is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate throughout the year. Think about it, it’s that one day out of the year where we can dress up like the Mad Hatter from head to toe and people won’t be shocked at what we’re wearing, nor will we have to think twice about consuming a truck full of chocolate. But, let’s not forget about all the classic horror films we will be sneaking peeks through our fingers as we attempt to cover our eyes during the scary parts.
But our favorite part about Halloween has to be the amazing creativity in the beauty world. We were recently inspired by a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles nail design by Youtuber MissJenFabulous ( aka Jenny Claire Fox), and so we decided to recreate the look for Halloween. Keep reading to find out how you can recreate this fun nail art too.
[large_title title=”What You’ll Need”]
- Nail Polishes in Green, Glitter, Orange, Purple, Blue, Red, Black & White
- Base and Top coat
- 1x Mid-size Dotting tool
- 1x Large Dotting Tool
- Nail polish remover
- Nail filer
[large_title title=”How To Recreate The Nail Art”]
First thing first. Prep the nails by removing any old nail polish with nail polish remover and file the nails, as well as push back the cuticles (be gentle). Once the nails are prepped, apply a base coat to protect the natural nails.
Once the nails have been prepped, apply a coat (or two) of green nail polish to all the nails. Then apply a translucent glitter polish over the green.
[ A few nail design options for your thumb can be to paint a slice of pizza on the nail for a little quirkiness or to simply keep the green and glitter scheme. ]
Here’s a COLOR GUIDE for the four different ninja turtles for reference:
| Leonardo | BLUE |
| Donatello | PURPLE |
| Raphael | RED |
| Michelangelo | ORANGE |
Start with Leonardo. Carefully paint a thick stripe with blue nail polish near the cuticle area. Repeat this step with Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo (using their perspective colors of course!).
Once the nails have dried, you’re going to dip a large dotting tool in white nail polish and paint two dots on top of the color stripes for the eyes. Next, you’ll dip a medium-sized dotting tool and paint two black in the center of the white dots to add some eye definition. Repeat with the rest of the nails.
Let the nails dry completely.
Once the nails are dry, simply apply a favorite top coat to seal in your design and add a beautiful shine.
