Wouldn’t it be nice to simply pack a few essentials in our suitcase, get in a cab and fly to an exotic destination of our choice? Unless we’re some undiscovered heiress who is set to inherit a kingdom (we’re still waiting on that call), we don’t have the luxury to go samba in Rio De Janeiro or sample Tokyo‘s best sushi hangouts for the weekend. Now before we go and take ‘cultural experience’ off our bucket list, Contributor Starrie Lowe suggests taking a cultural journey through the taste buds.
If we consider different cultures around the world, food is not only an essential way of life, but a memoir of a country’s cultural identity–reflecting the past, present and future. And what better way to immerse ourselves in a culture, then to roll our sleeves, pick up our forks and dig in. So although we might not get to trot the streets of Paris like a Parisian, we can surely eat like one.
