In anticipation of the new season, we have been playing with and reviewing  some fun, new beauty products from some of our favorite brands. And today, it’s all about Mustaev’s 10 Shade Lip Cream/Pro Palette and Smudge Proof Catwalk Gel Liner. Here we will show you a closer look at the products, offer demos and swatches, and give you our thoughts on the overall performance. Let’s start!

The 10 Shade Lip Cream/Pro Palette was designed to give us the ability to customize our own lip shades in a convenient, slim palette.  This professional palette comes in two configurations, a mirror or with an acrylic plate. We have the mirror version with the Lip Pro Palette brush included.

As seen above, there are 10 shades ranging from hot pink and reds, to mauve and brown. Even a white lip cream shade is included to make customization even easier.

The Smudge Proof Catwalk Gel Liner is a cream gel liner that glides on for an effortless application. It has a waterproof formula so it dries quicker on the lids for an all day smudge proof staying power.

The Catwalk Gel liner comes in only one color right now and that is a rich Black. It also has a matte finish.

The finish on these 10 Lip Creams are glossy with each shade being able to apply on sheer or easily built to opaque coverage.

How to Use: Feel free to use the Lip Pro Palette Brush (if you do purchase it) or your favorite lip brush and lightly dip in your brush to the lip shade of your choice. Start by filling in the middle of your lips and fill in the rest of your lips. Take a concealer brush to soften or clean up any edges for a perfected look.

If you want to mix your own different color shades, we suggest using a mini beauty spatula or clean lip brush and scoping a tiny bit of each lip shade you want to use onto the mirror or white acrylic plate (make sure to clean it after every use). You can then start to mix the colors until you achieve the lip color you want. Proceed to fill the lips with the shade.

As you can see from above, we have applied the lip shades, two of which were the lip cream shades alone, and the others were achieved by mixing in colors.  Starting from the Left, we mixed Deep Red, Chocolate Brown and a hint of White to make this gorgeous cabernet plum lip shade. Next is simply #7 in the palette or Neutral Brown as a lovely nude color. The third one, we filled in our lips with #1 (Pink) and applied a touch of white on the middle of the lips for a cool highlight effect. The last lip look is simply Deep Red (#3).

The finish on the Catwalk Gel Liner is completely matte and depending on the application and brush, you can achieve a soft thin line or an opaque thick line.  

How to Use: It all depends on the desired look you wish to achieve. Pick up a eye liner brush of choice. Keeping with the brand, we used the Mustaev Easy Go Eye Liner Brush. 

Dip your brush into the gel liner, making sure not to get too much product as this can cause it to not glide as smoothly. Start in the middle of the lash line and work towards the outer and then work inwards. You have a few seconds to blend the liner if you’re looking to create a softer look. If not, then just give the liner a few seconds for it to dry.

We have been testing out the 10 shade Lip Cream/Pro Palette and Smudge Proof Catwalk Gel Liner for a few months now. And we are finally ready to talk performance, color range, innovation and more.

First, we’ll talk about the 10 Shade Lip Cream/Pro Palette.

Color Range: This is by far one of our favorite beauty products from Mustaev. For gals who love trying new lip shades, this compact, lip palette is the perfect solution. It already has great color range alone, but with the customizations that can be easily done, we can practically achieve every color choice we want. This is perfect for taking our makeup look from day to night, simply by darkening our lip color straight from the palette.

Performance: We have tried many lip palettes over the years, but have never been as impressed or used it as much as we have the 10 Lip Cream palette. Often times, the lip creams were too drying on the lips or completely sheer. This is not the case here. Each shade has a smooth, glossy consistency that adds just the right gloss to make the lips look fresh. The formula is hydrating which allows the color to be applied effortlessly and without the lip cream from emphasizing any cracked lips. Now, while the pro palette does not claim to be a 24 hour waterproof formula, these lip creams do last on the lips longer than we expected. However, do expect the color to fade after wear throughout the day.

Innovation/Versatility: After seeing many celebrity makeup artists and professionals use lipstick palettes, we are happy Mustaev has brought out a consumer friendly palette that gives non professional gals like us the ability to carry different lip colors right in our bags. A great feature about this product is how easy it is to build the color from a sheer to an opaque in a matter of seconds. This is ideal for those days when we just want some color in our lips and other days when we want to rock a bold lip. Update: The lovely Mustaev team have also said that the lip creams can be used as cream blushes.

Packaging: We actually like the slim, compact feel of this lip palette. It is the perfect size for traveling without skipping usability either. And with the included mirror or white acrylic plate option, it makes applying or mixing on the go a breeze.

Overall: We couldn’t be more impressed with Mustaev’s 10 Lip Cream/Pro Palette. It offers the ability to create our unique signature lip shades in an easy to use palette.

Moving on to the Smudge Proof Catwalk Gel Liner.

Color Range: Now there isn’t any other color options except black. While we understand that black is generally that universal shade we all tend to reach for, it’d be nice to see a deep brown shade added to the line, as an alternative for those days we want to emphasize our eyes without looking too bold.

Performance: Finally a gel liner that stays strong on our naturally oily lids isn’t always easy, so we were excited about trying out this waterproof gel liner from Mustaev. After several uses under our belt, here is the pros and cons. The pros of this gel liner is that it has great staying power and carries a rich color payoff. However, the negative is that it can be tricky to work with given how easy the waterproof formula dries on the lids. If your someone new to gel liner, it can be hard at first to create a really clean winged liner. While there is a few seconds give and take to blend the liner, you need to be quick because once this liner sets it sets. We suggest using a stiff, thin eye liner brush as this will make creating those flawless winged eye liner so much easier.

Innovation/Versatility: Now because there is no glitter in the formula, we were able to use this gel liner to tight line and noticed no irritation. As we often use gel liners as eyeshadow bases, we opted to apply a thin layer of this product on our eyelids and followed it with a black eyeshadow to create a classic smokey eye. And we were impressed with the little to no creasing and durability of our eye makeup look throughout the day.

Overall: While we like the lasting power on the Smudge Proof Catwalk Gel Liner, we did find some difficulty when working with the product.
