[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his week on Scorpion, the team heads to Vegas for a job, but when Walter is framed for a robbery, the team must work together to clear his name.
Cabe doesn’t think the team is ready to go on their own, but Walter insists he works with the government not for them. As the team prepares to go, Walter tells Toby that he has to stay behind due to Toby’s gambling addiction. But Paige insists they all have to go as a family. When they get there, Walter tells Toby that if he can resist gambling while they are there, he will get his paycheck, but if not then the paycheck will go to Walter. Sounds like a good plan.
They meet Renee, the Casino owner’s daughter. She sets them up in the penthouse. The team is enjoying themselves, except for Walter. As usual, he is all about the job. And soon the team go to work.
Walter and Happy put a Brownian Motion Pattern detector–a pressure pad that measures random patterns — under the rug. They then go look at the camera and analyze the players. When they happen to zoom in on the dealer’s hands, Walter tells the owner (Mr. Connelly) the dealer is the reason why he is losing money. So Mr. Connelly brings in the dealer. Ronny (the dealer) is scared to death since he needs this job, and denies stealing from the casino. Walter agrees that the dealer wasn’t stealing, but his small hands and slow speed is the reason they are losing money. He suggests Mr. Connelly fire Ronny despite the fact that Ronny needs his job. Paige is a little upset with Walter’s behavior. She accuses him of being unemotional, as well as rude to Toby, insensitive to Sylvester’s fear of flying and uncaring to the dealer. Yet Walter defends himself by saying he has to be professional and do his job.
When team heads down to the casino area, Walter notices men in baseball caps. He realizes there are too many at the same time, and knows a robbery is about to take place. Sure enough there is shooting and everyone goes to the ground. Happy gets Paige out of the way of a bullet. When the police arrive at the scene, one man is shot, but fortunately the team is okay. Happy tells Paige she calculated the projection of the bullet and got Paige out of the way. Props to Happy on her amazing saving skills. They also realize the thieves entered through the lobby but didn’t leave through there. Both Mr. Connelly and the police end up blaming the team when everything points back to the team, especially the part where Walter predicted the robbery would take place.
It is obvious the team is being set up. When the officers do investigate the room, they find the money there and in Walter’s bag. Walter gets arrested. While at the court, he waives his rights for a defender since he doesn’t believe there is another person with his high I.Q that can defend him properly. The Judge doesn’t like his cocky attitude and sets the bail for 500,000. Walter is then taken to jail.
Meanwhile, the team goes to look for evidence to clear Walter and find out who framed him before it’s too late. They need money for the bail so Paige sends Toby to go win the money. Happy and Paige go see the security officer to view the surveillance footage of their room. The officer tells them to turn on Walter, but Happy shows him the picture Paige had taken in their room earlier showing the window angle was different. It proves someone had spliced the tapes. Paige noticed a bulletin board saying the Crimson Casino was planning an expansion. She remembers Renee telling them about her dad struggling financially. Happy requests for copies of public hearings for the Crimson expansion.
Toby and Sylvester are gambling, and so far they are winning. Things turn to the worse when Walter finds himself in a jail cell with Ronny, the man he got fired. Ronny wants to strangle Walter.
Paige and the team discuss the case, and they find out someone was paid off to cover the cost of the bribe. Paige goes and meets up with Toby and Sylvester. She tells them they have to go, but Toby being a gambling addict wants to put all the money in. And just as they are ready to leave, he bets it all.
When Ronny is about to punch Walter, he is called out to speak with his “lawyer,” who turns out to be Toby. He tells Walter he lost all the money. Walter is so upset because he thought he could count on Toby. He leaves disappointed in Toby.
The Scorpion team try to find out how to get inside the Crimson without going through the front door. Back in the jail cell, Walter is getting choked by Ronny. In order to stop Ronny, Walter offers to help him find out his skills for a better career. Happy and the team go up to the roof the building across the Crimson and decide to zip line to get across.
Once again Walter is talking to Ronny He gave him a marketing schedule for distributing his scones. It turns out Ronny is a baker, but has been having difficulty making money from it. Ronny shares that this has been the second time his hands has cost him his job. He mentions about a magician job he had where he never made it to the second round. He also tells Walter about this man called Great Scott who disappeared and then reappeared. Walter suddenly realizes how the thieves got out. Ronny tells him the Crimson was remodeled 30 years ago, and the Northwest corner of the casino is now a storage room. Walter has to relay that info to the team. With Ronny’s help, he creates a fume that opens the lock to the cell. He makes sure to tell Ronny to say he was asleep the whole time, when asked.
Happy gets into Connelly’s office and starts to copy the files, sending them to sylvester who is in the car. However a dilemma unfolds when a cop tells Sylvester to move the car from the loading zone. The problem is Sylvester doesn’t drive nor can he interrupt the file transfer. Eventually he passes in front of the Crimson. Paige glides in the zip line to help Happy get out, and Toby gets caught by security as a distraction.
As Walter is coming out, Sylvester drives right in front of the building. Walter decides to take the wheel. They don’t call Toby in case he is hiding, but he is not. Renee has him. Turns out she is taking him to the desert. Renee turns out be the inside man, which explains how the men got the employer key card to get inside.
Meanwhile, Toby has analyzed Renee, realizing she is the bad guy. Turns out she was upset about being left out of her dad’s expansion plan so she decided to take the 10 million for her own venue. She tells Toby to send a text, and so he sends something about the stars and Orion. The team shows up where Toby told them to. When Renee sees Walter, she realize something isn’t right. But before she can do anything about it, the helicopters show up with Cabe and his team to the rescue. Walter had called Cabe when he realize Orion isn’t visible this time of year.
We find out Walter had told Cabe he had to help his friend from jail (Ronny). Walter wants to give Ronny half his paycheck. Looks like Walter is showing his caring side. We then see Walter and Toby iron out their issues, and they then go gambling.
