It’s another month, which means our mailboxes are gleefully prepped for our monthly subscription services. The first to arrive is the faithfully pink package, which only can mean one thing: Our May 2014 Ipsy bag has arrived. As fans of Ipsy‘s budget-friendly, mostly full to deluxe products beauty box service, we couldn’t wait to see what was in store for our favorite month of the year. Here’s a look at what we got in our bag this month.

Balanced Guru No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass Balancing Oil | 0.5 fl Deluxe size: If strong scents aren’t exactly your thing, this frizz free balancing oil might not be for you. We personally love the scent of lemongrass and Argan oil so this was not a problem for us. We did notice improvement in our hair, as this oil seemed to keep the frizz at bay. Plus we love trying new organic/cruelty-free products that don’t have the artificial fillers found in other brands. However, be do caution of using too much of the oil as it’s really easy to make our hair look a tad greasy if we use to much of this.

Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50 | 1 fl oz Travel- size: With summer coming soon, sunscreen is always welcomed, especially if it’s a natural sunscreen. What we liked about this sunscreen was how quickly it absorbs in the skin as opposed to typical drugstore sunscreens that need to be rubbed into the skin to avoid the dreaded white patches. There is a a slight sheen left afterwards, but definitely not disco-ball worthy. The scent is light, and not overpowering. We will definitely make good use of this as the weather gets warmer.

Boo-Boo Cover-Up Boo-Boo Cover-up ( Medium Shade ) | 0.34 oz Full-size: Usually we’re wary of concealers and foundations in beauty subscription boxes because the large number of subscribers does not always allow a company to be able to meet custom or personalization based on every individual need. So often we receive shades that do not go with our skin tone or preference. However, this time around we were pleasantly surprised with how the Boo-Boo Cover up concealer matches our skin tone perfectly. What we loved about this new product is how lightweight it feels, especially underneath the eyes. Coverage can be light to full coverage, depending on how we apply and build up. Definitely a product we’ll be repurchasing.

Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo 2 | We have only ever tried the body products from Pacifica, so we’re excited to venture into their makeup. Unfortunately we we’re too thrilled with the product. The pigmentation was a negative for us. We had to build up the color, and of course with help of eye primer, to really bring out the shades. It’s a shame because the shades are actually quite lovely.

Avene Thermal Spring Water | 1.76 oz Travel Size: We have heard a great deal about facial mist sprays, so we were curious to find out what all the hype was about. While we can’t say how vital this product is to our everyday skin and beauty routine, it’s definitely a nice pampering product for those time we need so sooth our skin and bring some hydration. We will have to keep testing it out to see how well it works over longer periods of time.

Ipsy Green leaves-print canvas bag: By far one of our favorite bags, not only because it fits really well with the spring/nature theme, but the length is perfect for fitting all the products we received in this month’s bag and more.
