Monday featured a panel of YouTube All-stars Tyler Oakley, Joey Graceffa and Justine Ezarik (aka iJustine) moderated by Vanity Fair Executive West Coast Editor Krista Smith. These sought-out influencers talked about what motivated them to tread unknown territory that was Youtube at the time, dealing with the “haters”, and more.
Seeing these amazing Youtubers up close and personal felt a tad surreal, and we had to keep reminding ourselves that we were in fact, hearing Tyler Oakley’s distinctive voice just a few feet away and not from our laptops. Needless to say that although we showed visible restraint, inside we were in fangirl mode.
Hightlights:
- iJustine on why creating great content stems from great passion for the work: “If you’re not enjoying the content you’re making then no one will.”
- When it came to staying current, Joey Graceffa emphasize on the need to constantly evolve in order to stay relevant.
- Tyler Oakley shows how effortless it is to take a digital platform to encourage social change as he talks about raising funds for the Trevor Project, a national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention for the LGBTQ community.
After a briefly opening up the discussion to questions from the attendees, the panel ended and a lively Happy Hour commenced. While tempted to sample the fabulous Grey Goose cocktail and canapes laid on pristine white serving trays, we headed out the door to avoid a bit of the just-out-of-work traffic many of us LA peeps have learned to dread.

On day two of VFSC, we were treated to a delicious luncheon that would have made any high tea enthusiast proud.
But the real treat was the Into the Oscars sit-down interview with Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood and Vanity Fair Deputy Editor Punch Hutton. This year Atwood is nominated for Into the Woods for her brilliant costume design.
Even if you’re not a fashion lover, hearing Atwood talk about her lengthy career, her favorite costume on film so far, and the launch of her luxury handbag collection.
Handbag addicts, you may want to take a moment to drool over these gorgeous handbags and clutches from Colleen Atwood. The collection pays homage to superb Italian craftsmanship. Make sure to head over to ColleenAtwood.com to have a peek at the beauties, you won’t be disappointed.
Following the interview, we headed to the L’Oreal Brow Bar to check out where the brow magic was taking place. The gals there were absolutely sweet, showing us how to use the brand’s brow gel tint. Fifteen minutes later we were out the door with on point brows.
On a side note, we were given an invitation code to share:
Head over to glamsquad.com or download their app and enter the invite code glamla and book any in-house beauty services.

This is by far one of our favorite days at #VFSC, but maybe it’s because we eat up architecture for breakfast so knowing the Oscar House That V.F Built Discussion with Basil Walter was on the agenda, we made sure to get front-row seats.

Walter shared the challenges and inspiration in designing the sought out Vanity Fair Oscar Party year after year. But while this Sunday’s Oscar Party is hush hush, we do know that the structure and design will be out of this world.
As we waited for the Makeup touchups with Armani Beauty to begin, we made our way to the Twitter machine. If we haven’t mentioned this awesome machine before then we apologize beforehand. But what is it? Think prizes, a vending machine and Twitter all wrapped in one.
How does it work? Attendees simply choose their desired prize and tweet the message on the screen, and voila, they have their gift. Prizes range from full-size Armani perfumes to cocktail shakers.
One of our favorite events of the night was, of course, our beauty makeover with the lovely Giorgio Armani team. Not only did we try some of the brand’s coveted beauty products for the first time, we also shared some great laughs and conversation with the fabulous Tim Quinn, Director of Creative Artistry for Armani.

With a more relaxed attendance on day four of VFSC, we had the chance to move around the room and meet some more fabulous new and established bloggers and influencers, and enjoy a scrumptious hot lunch as well.
However, as soon as Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush entered the door, all of us readied our phones and cameras–aiming to get a snapshot of him as he sat down to reply to some of our questions on Twitter.
A moment later, Bush was joined by Shira Lazar (What’s Trending), Ben Parr (former co-editor Mashable, author of Captivology), and Andrew Adashek (Twitter) for the Now Trending: The Business of Social Media panel. Moderated again by Vanity Fair Executive West Coast Editor Krista Smith, the panel focused on how social media has evolved into a lucrative and influential business.
The discussion touched on the more broader social media to business empire phenomenon many of the popular (and established) social media platforms have had throughout the years rather than hands on tips on building an entrepreneurship via social media platforms. Despite this, we enjoyed the panel’s take on how Hollywood and the entertainment industry continues to take notice of the large impact digital media has had in creating and delivering content that appeals to the masses.
Following the panel, we joined in on the Armani Aqua for Life Happy Hour Celebration Toasting UNICEF.
