Those of us with dry skin know how diligent we have to be with our skincare. Fortunately, after several years of waddling through products, gadgets and helpful advice, we have finally narrowed down a day and night routine that keeps our skin from looking dull, dry and unhealthy. Take a peek at our daily skincare routine…
Morning Routine

Step 1: Exfoliate
Now many of us are accustomed to using a cleanser before exfoliating our face. However, we have found that when we reverse the order our skin is more receptive. The grains from the scrub not only take off dead skin, it also prepares the skin for a deep clean. Oh and don’t forget the lips as well!
We love scooping a bit of our DIY Homemade Face Scrub with our fingers and working the product in circular motions on our face.
What We Use: Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub or Lierac Sensory Exfoliant, Lush Sweet Lips (discontinued, try: Mint Julips)
Alternatives Products: St Ives Apricot Scrub, St. Helene Natural Facial Scrub
For Acne: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub
Step 2: Cleanse
A good cleanser, specifically designed for our skin type (or at least one for all types) is so important because it ensures we will have right kind of products for our skin.
Our hectic schedules might have us rushing out the door but doesn’t mean we want to compromise on diligence so we use a face sponge. Again working in gentle, circular motions will make all the difference.
What We Use: Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser
Alternatives: 3LAB Cleanser, Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser, Neutrogena Oil free Acne Wash
Step 3: Lip Balm
It seems dry skin goes hand in hand with dry lips, so us dry skin gals need a little extra moisture on our pouts. And we do so by applying a good lip balm. Tip: Moisturize the lips before a bright lip so they don’t look chapped and uneven.
What We Use: Nivea Honey & Milk Lip Balm
Alternatives: Mor Lip Macaron, Eos Organic Lip Balm, Jack Black Peppermint Lip Balm, Fresh Brown Sugar Lip Treatment, Vaseline, Whole Foods Organic Coconut Lip Balm
Step 4: Serum/Sunscreen
Keeping the skin well protected from the environments is so important in a good skin care routine, especially for us with dry skin. We know serums are usually suggest for night routine, but what many of us forget is that our skin takes a lot of toll during the day, therefore it’s crucial to have the added protection.
What We Use: Ole Henricksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen 50 SPF
Alternatives: Aveeno Sunblock SPF 70, Banana Boat Sport Performance SPF 50, Nature’s Gate Mineral Sportblock
Step 5: Moisturizer
We can’t stress how important moisturizers are for dry skin. They will help hydrate the skin and prep our face for makeup. We do suggest a lightweight moisturizer that works just as well as a thicker one would but still quickly sink into the skin. Believe us, a step you don’t want to miss.
What We Use: Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè or St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer,
Alternatives: Cetaphil, Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Moisturizer SPF 25, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion
Step 6: Eye Cream
The eye area is a highly sensitive area, so making sure it’s well protected is as important as drinking 8 glasses of water. An eye cream or eye treatment can help treat any fine lines, dark circles, puffiness and dryness we might have. Plus it makes concealer go on more smoothly.
What We Use: Indie Lee Calendula Eye Balm, Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller
Alternatives: Embryolisse Soothing Eye Contour Treatment, ROC Eye Cream, Youngblood Eye Impact Quick Recovery Eye Cream, Elf Eye Refresh Roller
