POPSUGAR’s leading fashion and beauty site, ShopStyle has over thousands of stores and brands like Benefit Cosmetics, Michael Kors, and Christian Louboutin, designed to entice the online shopper in us. Looking to further the overall user experience, they have recently added a new product review feature on their site. We were given the opportunity to navigate around the site, and play around with this new feature. Here’s our first impressions:

PROS & CONS
- Pro: Given the way the site works, it’s no surprise that ShopStyle has added the review feature. It gives visitors the opportunity to not just search through all the categories (and there is plenty to look through) but also the chance to see what other buyers are saying about a particular product. This is extremely helpful for those wanting to buy the best product possible or simply try out new things without going at it blindly. The actual review platform is very easy to use. Plus the few writing tips offered are useful for those of us who like or need a bit of a guideline when writing a review. It also helps avoid some of the one sentence reviews we
- Con: Despite a fairly easy navigation (and search engine), it can get slightly tricky to know where to go to get a direct link to the product’s information and review the item. There are just too many options we get once we’ve located the product we want. Let’s use the Benefit Oxygen foundation as an example. Once we were able to locate it, we immediately clicked the photo expecting to be taken to the product information, instead a new window popped up and we were taken to an outside source where we could buy the actual product. The next option was to click on a row of stars right on the actual image (once we’ve hovered) and this would finally take us to where we could actually write our review. And of course the last option was to simply click on the link right below the photo. We suggest using the third option so to avoid getting lost.
Overall
As newcomers to the site, we enjoyed ShopStyle. It’s a fun way to have a wide range of categories ranging from clothing, accessories to home decor and beauty right at our fingertips. With this new review feature, we can already see how this will encourage more user interaction.
