The summer finale of Drop Dead Diva, brings us many ups and downs, with an “Oh no!” moment for our very own Jane. As usual, Jane’s on an interesting case, where she must defend the fiancé of a friend. While at a bridal party, the bride- to-be receives a phone call that her fiancé has been arrested at the border. Devastated, she asks Jane for help. Jane promises to have the groom out in time for their wedding day. But it’s not exactly easy, as it turns out the fiancé was arrested for being in the wrong line and impersonating an American citizen. To make matters worse, he was so drunk he doesn’t remember anything. Oh did we forget to mention that if found guilty, he’ll be deported?
Elsewhere, Kim’s case is quite interesting as she is defending a writer whose says her erotic book was plagiarized. The opposing side used a plagiarism site, which supposedly showed a 41 percent chance that the book was copied. This puts a temporary dent on Kim’s defense. However, Kim’s genius comes to play when she brings something better to the court: The man who inspired Cindy’s book and her own personal journal filled with erotic moments she used in her book.
All of a sudden, Kim’s water breaks. But she refuses to leave her case and go to the hospital. If you were watching you know this was a hilarious moment. There we see Kim explaining why the book was plagiarized, all the while dealing with her labor. In order to get Kim out of the court, the judge issues a recess, so an unwillingly Kim leaves to the hospital. It’s not the last of Kim. While in labor, the court has a live feed of her in the hospital, continuing with her case. Unable to take anymore, the judge declares the win for the plaintiff, so Kim can have her baby in peace.
While in San Diego, Jane meets a lawyer named Luis. He asks Jane for a date, giving her tips on her case. The prosecutor finds a prostitute that insists Robert hired her for a “happy massage”. This could force the bridegroom to get 10 years in Mexico. However, the best man admits it was him who used Robert’s credit card to hire the prostitute. The defense however, refuses to listen since they just think he’s trying to take the blame for Robert.
The bride-to-be is very upset since she has a sick mom so it’s impossible for her to leave and join Robert in Mexico. When they again put the prostitute on the stand, she continues to insist Robert is the man she was with. Jane is able to use several photographs and the time Robert’s credit card was used to discredit the prostitute’s declaration. She even went so far as to ask the prostitute what type of underwear Robert had on. The description she gives doesn’t match Robert’s underwear, but does match the best man’s underwear. Jane wins this round.
