We recently had the pleasure to interview Sathya Balakumar and Heather Green, the geniuses behind Lakum to find out more about this innovative brand.

>>>Talk us through the company’s creative process when designing and producing new collections?
[dropcap]A.[/dropcap]We begin each season by sketching 100-200 looks. We then source the highest quality fabric from local suppliers, and then select the top styles that we develop to create a collection that is fashion-forward, cohesive and inspired.

[dropcap]A.[/dropcap]The brand is built upon the ideal of becoming the solution for the bride not seeing “herself” in what is current offered in the bridal market. We develop our collection of completely unique looks that stand out and speak to the fashion-forward bride.

[dropcap]A.[/dropcap]The Suite of Looks™ is our secondary collection. The line offers the bride cohesive set of looks to be worn throughout the weekend’s event. She can choose a theme to be woven throughout her rehearsal dinner, the wedding, reception, after-party and ultimately the Sunday brunch.
>>>Why create a line of bridal wear designed to take the bride from her rehearsal to ceremony, and beyond?

She has the opportunity to see how the dress looks in the comfort of her home. She can keep coming back to the dress before making that final decision to become a Lakum bride.
