Our Pick: Gravity
It was a close call with The Hobbit, but the visual effects in Gravity have our vote.
WRITING: Adapted Screenplay
- Before Midnight
Written by Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke
- Captain Phillips
Screenplay by Billy Ray
- Philomena
Screenplay by Steve Coogan and Jeff Pope
- 12 Years a Slave
Screenplay by John Ridley
- The Wolf of Wall Street
Screenplay by Terence Winter
Our Pick: Before Midnight
Our personal favorite of the bunch. Like its predecessors, Before Midnight is pure magic, Delpy and Hawke just explode with chemistry. If that’s not a true testament of an excellent screenplay (also done by the two) we don’t know what is.
WRITING: Original Screenplay
- American Hustle
Written by Eric Warren Singer and David O. Russell
- Blue Jasmine
Written by Woody Allen
- Dallas Buyers Club
Written by Craig Borten & Melisa Wallack
- Her
Written by Spike Jonze
- Nebraska
Written by Bob Nelson
Our Pick: American Hustle
Screenplay for the American Hustle was beyond fantastic. Singer and Russell gave us everything we could have imagined and more.
We’ll have to tune into the Oscars to see which of our predictions were on money and which ones were way off. Let us know your predictions in the comments below.
