Don’t waste time
Once we’ve found the ideal dating site for us, it’s now time to take a moment or two to figure out our type. For many of us, there is no easy or quick answer. Nor can it really be. We don’t expect you to know from head to toe exactly how your ideal type should look, act, and be. But having a general understanding of your preferences does not hurt to narrow down the long list of profiles you’ll be seeing on the site. It’s going to be incredibly tempting to talk to all the people who immediately reach out to us. We’ve all been there. All it takes is someone to send us a “Hey Good looking!” or “Your beauty blinds me” message, and we’re pulled in, even if it’s to laugh at how cheesy the message sounds (and most are).
DO the elimination
Although, we are firm believers of keeping an open mind since we know people don’t necessarily fall into our ideal “type” all the time, this is not to say that we should completely compromise on we truly want. Learn to trust your instinct. If the person you’re getting to know on the site is someone who keeps rubbing you the wrong way, put an end to it. While you might be looking for long-term, some will not. Some will probably see online dating as just another opportunity to “hookup”. If that’s not your game, why play it? The point is not to use so much time and energy on someone who is completely incompatible to us when chances are we’ll be back to square one. We could easily use that same time and energy on someone else who looks more promising.
